From behind Lelouch heard a crashing noise, then another noise - a grunt? A cry? Something effortful - that sounded quite human, right before the inhuman roars and crashes stopped. Lelouch slowed to a stop and turned toward the crash, breathing heavily. His meager stamina was getting low already. Was there somebody else here?

Lelouch looked back and forth, all around, but it was so hard to see in the dark.
"Hello?" he asked softly, not wanting to call any more monsters over. "Is there somebody here?"

Rin had taken notice of his strange surroundings and had already come to his own conclusions - this was another True Cross Academy pop quiz. Or, at the very least, he really hoped it was. Waking up in an empty hospital room and walking into a dark hall way with no one to greet him was disturbing in its own right. What really put him on edge were the sounds, as if something was following him.

Rin was tempted to draw his sword, but he held back. What if one of his friends were in the area and they were suddenly caught in the blast. No, he had to wait long enough to see if there was anyone around. He didn't have to wait long. While the scream didn't sound familiar, the gunshots were - not that he made a habit of distinguishing gunshots, of course.

"Yukio!" He called out the name of his twin brother and ran headfirst into the direction of the scream. Yukio might have needed help! There was no other reason for him to scream like that - or to scream at all.

Lelouch did not know the voice echoing down from the opposite direction, but he was just glad to hear it was human. A Japanese person, most likely, judging by the name he called out and properly pronounced.

In Japanese he shouted, <"Who are you, the person who called out?">

Well, that confirmed it: it wasn't Yukio. The person might have still needed help anyway. Rin kept running forward, hoping to eventually meet the speaker. It must be an exorcist, he thought. Who else would be allowed to carry a gun on campus?

"Okumura Rin, Esquire. What's going on?" If there was anything odd about the other person's Japanese, Rin didn't bring it to attention. He pulled his sword, still in its sheath, closer to his hand. It never hurt to be prepared.

'Esquire'? Lelouch wondered. Was he an honorary Britannian serving under a Britannian knight? He would have to be careful then. Still, this was no time to turn his nose up at a companion regardless of his national affiliation. Lelouch followed the voice, trying to locate this young man named Rin.

"I don't know. I just woke up here; I have no idea where we are. There are creatures unlike any I've ever seen before. Do you have any clue what this place is?"
