RRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT...I've been fucking busy (but not fucking or "getting busy", which is rather disappointing). Since the end of last year my mum and myself have been looking for a house to buy. 2 weeks ago, after getting a pre-approved mortgage, we found a house that we actually liked, that was a year old and didn't need any major work...except it had an enormous retaining wall right along the back fence. We had decided that we could look past it (metaphorically of course, you'd have to be about 20 metres tall to actually see past it) and the fact that the block was only 548m2, and made an appointment with the real estate agent to sign a contract. On the day we were going to sign the contract we went to see another house that was 3 years old, had an easement and a bit of water damage in the garage, but it was on a 642m2 block and didn't look that bad. We cancelled the first appointment and made an offer on the second house. The offer was accepted within the hour. When we got the building and pest inspection, we found out that there had been two floods through the house, broken tiles in the roof which caused water damage in the ceiling, all the skirting boards were warped, part of the kitchen ceiling, where a pipe had burst, needed to be cut out and replaced, there was moisture in the walls and they'd need vent holes above the skirting boards all throughout the house AND there were trees that would need to be removed so the roots didn't disturb the foundations. SO, we terminated the contract. That same day we went to view another house and made an offer on it. We had the building and pest inspection done on Tuesday and everything is fine. Now I'm part owner of a house! It's 9 years old and on a 700m2 block. It has 3 bedrooms (the master with an ensuite and a walk-in robe), a bathroom and a seperate toilet upstairs and downstairs is a big kitchen and big dining area, decent sized lounge room, laundry, another toilet, study and a double garage. It's also got a small patio area out the back. Before we move in we're getting the carpets ripped up in the lounge and study and getting wooden floors instead, extending the patio area and getting two of the bedrooms air-conditioned. Uhhhhhm I'm sure there was something else, but I've forgotten. I'm working full-time now as well, which isn't bad, the days go really quickly.
I went to see Pan's Labyrinth the other night, expecting something like The Never-ending Story. I didn't realise it was rated MA beforehand, and I won't mention what happens, but I was shocked and horrified! It was a brutal movie, but brilliant and beautiful at the same time. My friend laughed at the really scary monster man. I think her appropriate reaction wires got crossed.
