Hsin Yeow's thoughts: A Moment Like This
When I asked Darius if he would like to thank his guests personally for attending his wedding, he baulked at the idea. "No speech, please, I'm shy." But I persisted and coaxed, "Don't worry, just speak from the heart. I'll guide you."
When I handed the microphone to Darius, his initial fears of stage-fright simply melted away.
He spoke clearly and eloquently, and even assured Yeling's parents that he would take good care of her, as I hoped he would. After the wedding, Yeling will be joining Darius in China for the long-term, so I'm sure Darius' words would go some way in allaying their worries.

I tried to inject some spontaneity by asking Darius to give Yeling a passionate kiss before letting them leave the stage. Darius was game for it, but Yeling was a little shocked. I could see Darius leaning forward, but Yeling was backing away ever so slightly, no doubt surprised by her husband's eagerness to pucker up in front of their guests. But Darius got to lock lips with Yeling in the end, amidst enthusiastic applause and cheers.
It's always a joy to be performing with Ein Ein and Feri. I particularly enjoyed Feri's guitar solos for the jazz numbers.
It was also refreshing for me to perform A Moment Like This, a song usually sung by female artistes. I suggested to Yeling that it should be performed during one of their entrances for greater impact. I was glad she agreed.
Congratulations Yeling and Darius! Thank you for engaging me to be your wedding singer and emcee. I wish you both all the best for the days ahead in China. Hope we meet again some day! Here's a song for you.
P.S. The in-house sound system at Grand Hyatt was slightly erratic, but luckily, we managed to finish the night's performance before any major mishaps happened. Nevertheless, couples are encouraged to engage a separate system for a more optimal sound quality.
