Bevlyn's Thoughts: Somewhere Over The Rainbow

It was a while since I last perform at Hotel Intercontinental, and it felt really good to be back to the charming ballroom which I remember most for the lovely chandeliers and the strong spotlight for the march-in. The band performed the jazz classic 'Somewhere over the rainbow' for Glenn and Lydia's first march-in, and Lydia looked especially breath-taking under the strong spotlight!

Glenn and Lydia had chosen a good mix of English and Mandarin songs, some of them we performed for the very first time! For example, the couple wanted us to perform a song dedication to their elders, and they thought of this song 世上只有妈妈好. Genn and Lydia suggested that I sing the song one time addressing it to 妈妈 and another time to爸爸, and I did!

Another song which we rarely did, but felt good doing was 一串心. Yes it probably is too classic for most people's taste, but if you're considering slotting in 1 or 2 chinese classics in your repertoire, you may want to consider this song, which is not (yet) overrated!

Before the dinner commenced, I bumped into an old friend Paul who used to be in the same singing class as me; incidentally, he is Glenn's cousin! Speak about coincidence, cos what better occasion than this to request for him to sing a song? Paul was very game about it, and delivered a great rendition of 'Wonderful Tonight' as a wedding gift to the couple. When I invited Paul onstage for the performance, Lydia and Glenn were just as surprised as when I met Paul earlier. I hope the special performance added more sparkle and memories to the wedding :)
