Hsin Yeow's thoughts: The Perfect Year
Sparks didn't fly when Ivan and Wynnie first met each other.
In Ivan's words, she was "just another girl at the office." As both were against office romances, their relationship never developed beyond the confines of the office.
But all that changed when Ivan decided to leave the company. Before he did, he plucked up his courage, downed a few (kidding) and asked Wynnie out for supper one night. That one chance he took turned out to be one of the best decisions he'd ever made.
When asked why she loves Ivan, Wynnie listed the following:
1. Always a gentleman and lets me have my way
2. Not 小气 (petty)
3. Genuinely sayangs my little sis
4. Leaves the best food for me
5. Happy to drive me around without penny-pinching the petrol and ERP costs >.<
6. Appreciates my random whimsical moments
7. Thinks I sing well
8. Lets me make all the small decisions
9. Does not have a worse case of Road Rage than me
10. Loves me for who I am, literally
I was very impressed by Wynnie's detailed list, so I asked Ivan to do the same, i.e. list 10 things he loved about Wynnie. Of course, I didn't give him any time to prepare when I sprang the surprise on him. Ahh, being the emcee has its privileges!
I wish he'd remembered what he wrote to me earlier:
"The past 3 years have been a breeze of fun and laughter. Her whimsical randomness, her quirkiness, her smile, her liveliness are some things I can never do without and I’m blissfully savoring every moment with her."
To Ivan's credit, he gave very good answers which drew the audience's applause.
Congratulations Ivan and Wynnie! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to celebrate your wedding!
