Half a year ago, Andrina contacted us to engage a live band for her wedding. Everything was over emails, and we met only on the wedding day itself. it's cheap thrill I know, but I love to discover how the couples I'm singing for look like on the actual day itself. Of course there were bad times when I mistook the best men as the grooms, but these incidents were really rare (and too funny to be embarrassed by myself).
No, I did not make this mistake for this wedding. On the contrary, it was easy to recognise the groom in his smart suit; Andrina's gowns were really too lovely for words, and since pictures speak a thousand words, I would ask her to send us a couple of photos soon!
The banquet was majestic with the tall ceilings and the floor space which is probably counts as one of the largest among wedding venues in Singapore. The live band was located on a side stage with the baby grand piano provided free of charge by Shangri-La. Accompanying me on piano was Mei Sheum, a veteran whom Adrian (on bass) and I are big fans of! Needless to say, we were nervous, but we knew we were in good hands (literally).
One of the highlights for the evening was owned by Karen, cousin of Andrina who was asked to present a song with the live band. Karen told us that she was often asked to take on the microphone at family occasions. And we could easily see why when she rehearsed with the band before the banquet - she sings very well that's why!
With her deep and thick vocals on the classic "Just The Way You Are", Karen wowed the family and guests away. Definitely great memories and a great wedding gift for Jianxiang and Andrina!
We had a great time jamming with each other on the good classics chosen by Andrina and Jianxiang. My favourite had to be "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered":
