Hsin Yeow's thoughts: Crazy Love
I met Ben and Diana at the reception area outside the ballroom. There was still some time before the start of the lunch reception, so Ben told me how he fell in love with Diana. The story was so brief, yet it cracked me up.
This was what he said.
Ben and Diana met at a group outing. There were more group outings after that, but fewer and fewer came. Until there were just the two of us. And that's how we came together."
Right.
Then Diana started recounting the story of how Ben proposed, and what happened next.
Paris. Winter.
The wind was howling, but Ben could only hear the thumping of his heart.
It was bitingly cold, but Ben was sweating. He could only think about the question he was about to ask.
He reached out his hand, touched the ring he just gave to Diana, and asked, "Darling, may I keep the ring for you?"
At this point, Ben interjected and mock protested, "Dear, what I said was I wanted to safeguard the ring for you." He turned to me and said, "If you'd known her well enough, you'd understand why I said it."
Diana nodded affirmatively. "Yes, I have butter fingers."
That may be so, but she has an iron grip on Ben's heart.
I had a fantastic time performing at Ben and Diana's wedding, together with Juliet (mesmerising voice), James (versatile pianist) and Fabian (brilliant saxophonist). We sang a mix of English and Mandarin pop and jazz, which went down very well with the wedding guests.
Congratulations Ben and Diana! May your days ahead be filled with laughter and joy.
A little surprise I sprung on them. Before I sang Lady In Red, I asked the couple to oblige us with a dance. They agreed!
