Jonathan's thoughts: 爱很简单 (Love Is Very Simple)
Nicholas and Ai Ling were a real sweet couple, big smiles were constantly on their faces and we could tell they were certainly enjoying their special day. They chose to have their wedding at the Jewel Box on Mount Faber.
It was an excellent decision. Though it was a little warm, but it was so windy and cooling, I hardly broke a sweat. The weather was certainly on their side. A very private location overlooking the harbour and lush greenery, there was a cozy little patio which they conducted their solemnisation ceremony in front of their family and friends.
I had the honour to play the wedding march theme solo on the tenor saxophone as Ai Ling walked down the isle with her father from a spiral staircase in a corner. A beautiful and elegant entrance. Their idea of a solo sax playing the wedding march was also quite creative I must say. Simple and sweet.
During the solemnisation, the JP surprised the couple by asking them if they would like to make personal vows to each other. It caught them off guard a little as they didn't prepare any, however the words that came out from them were the most sincere and truthful. We could see Ai Ling getting emotional as she made her vow.
Ian and I performed 2 instrumental sets of classic swing and love songs for their guests over lunch. We were very glad the guests were appreciative of our performance and constantly applauded. Just before we ended our last set, we even received a special request of 爱很简单 (Love Is Very Simple) by 陶喆 dedicated to the couple.
To Nicholas and Ailing, thank you for including us in your joyous occasion, have a wonderful honeymoon in Japan!
P.S. Here's a wedding tip: make personal vows to each other during solemnization ceremony, your fiance will be extremely touched.
