Matthew's thoughts: The Look Of Love

The last time I saw Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean was at a military parade, so you can imagine our SHOCK (read: pleasant surprise) when he showed up as a guest at the dinner.

Now there are a few things about having really high-profile guests at your wedding dinner: it's a little weird for the groom or master-of-ceremony to start their speech off with a "Good evening Deputy Prime Minister...." while the contents of the speech are all wife and happily-ever-after related.

One good thing (depending on whose perspective) is that you can't do pranks or play those embarrassing games with the couple (the selectively-popular push-the-egg-through-his-pants routine *yucks*). Having a well-behaved crowd that has access to free-flow alcohol is always a good thing!

Nevertheless, I found it very gracious of Mr Teo that he did ask for the guests to rise and greet him when he entered.

Vanessa, the lovely bride, was so cool and un-stressed that I couldn't even tell she was the bride when I bumped into her in the ballroom at 5.30pm! (Brides usually only show up a little before the first march-in) I believe she had her own camera and was walking around taking her own collection of memories of the place. It was a joy to play at Edward and Vanessa's wedding as they were both so warm and appreciative of our work; Edward making sure that both the payment (*ding!*) and dinner for the band members (*ding!* +2 points!) was settled before the entire event! (Top marks to the couple!)

The evening was magical also because of the tastefully chosen songlist which succeeded in creating a very classy and charming ambience which complimented the venue, yet also having a little of something for everyone, from Sinatra to Buble, with a touch of Teresa Teng's mandarin classics for the FM95.8 crowd.

Congratulations Edward and Vanessa! Thank you for the privilege of having us at your wedding!

P.S. On the note of fun tips, please set aside money to rent a separate sound system when having your dinner at the Raffle's Hotel ballroom. As all wedding-package salesmen say: wedding is once in a lifetime! Spend where you can to get the best!

Compliments:

Hi Hsin Yeow,

Been roughly about 11 days since my wedding.

Please find the attached a photo we took with your wonderful team. You may add this to your website. Juliet was excellent and the band was simply amazing.

All the guests enjoyed their performance, including relatives and our parents.

Indeed, I am lucky to have made the right choice. Great thanks from me and Vanessa.

Encore and compliments to you and the music crew...

I will certainly recommend your services and business to anyone that needs entertainment for their events.

Meanwhile, God bless and take care !

Warmest regards,
Edward
