Hui Bing's thoughts: Unforgettable
I was looking forward to Denis and Elynn’s wedding for two reasons. First, I wanted to visit the newly renovated, swanky Playground @ Big Splash at East Coast Park. It used to be the former iconic landmark ‘Big Splash’ in the 1980s, a water theme park popular with many children of that era, myself included.
Gone were the slides and swimming pools. In its place were a myriad of recreational amenities and new dining facilities right at the beachfront. One of them is 1-TwentySix, which is an excellent venue if you like a cosy, intimate, garden-like setting where you can also feel the ocean breeze and listen to the sounds of splashing waves. And this was where Denis and Elynn had their wedding for their relatives, close friends and colleagues.
I also loved the songs that Denis and Elynn had chosen for the evening as they include some of my personal favourites such as Cheek To Cheek, The Way You Look Tonight and C’est Si Bon. Ein Ein and I, upon sensing that our singing was not coming through from the house speakers, decided to forgo our feedback monitors (which we used to listen to ourselves) and push them out towards the guests so that they can enjoy our music. Our small ‘sacrifice’ paid off as I could see more guests swaying themselves to the jazz numbers for the second set.
