Bevlyn's thoughts: What's yum seng in Korean?
Andrea's husband, Euirip, is Korean. So why did they throw a traditional Chinese banquet for their Korean relatives, including the yum seng?
It reminded me of Hikaru and Moe Moe's wedding last month. Hikaru told me he felt that the yum seng part was a very Singaporean thing to do, so he went ahead with it.
I was gawking at lovely traditional Korean costumes worn by Euirip's parents. They looked almost regal. For their third march-in, Andrea and Euirip changed into Korean traditional costumes too, and they looked gorgeous!
One pleasant surprise for us was a special request from Andrea's mother to extend our performance by another 30 minutes. One of the guests took the opportunity to sing with us, and requested that our musicians play a traditional Japanese wedding song. Our talented musicians learnt the song on the spot, and the impromptu performance drew everyone's applause.
P.S. I love the cosy ambience of the Garden Suite, which is very suitable for small families (20+ tables).

Andrea's taste in music is wide-ranging, as you can see from her song choice. It ranges from 新谣 (local pop songs popular in the '80s) to Jazz to Pop (English, Mandarin and Cantonese)!

(1) Ask the band to prepare some songs in your spouse's native language
(2) Get the band to perform your favourite songs, even if they are from different genres or languages
