Bevlyn's thoughts: Crazy Little Thing Called Love
In Joey's own words: "The crowd (for her own wedding) are half Chinese, half Caucasians. We like the way you did for Xinyun where there's a mixture of Hokkien (would make my aunties very happy), Chinese and English songs.
And indeed, from where I was on the stage, I could see Anthony's families and friends on the left, and Joey's counterparts on the right. Distinctively different, yet brought together by the couple's love for each other. And get this, 85 relatives and friends flew over to Singapore for the wedding. 85!
Marching in before Joey and Anthony was the bridal party, made up by the pairing of Anthony's 4 male friends and Joey's 4 female friends. To the tune of their favourite song 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love', I announced:
"And last, but most importantly, the stars for the evening, Anthony and Joey!"
The video highlights are usually hilarious when the groom is a Caucasian. The 1st 'delicacy' whipped out by the sisters are "Duck heads and feet" (actually I would think it's 'yeeew' even for local men). And I have to make special mention that the facial expressions worn by the Caucasian brothers when they savoured durian were, priceless. What impressed me however, was the line of push-up waves - one after the other down the line, each brother had to stack his knees on another's shoulders and support himself only with his own hands. Afterwhich, as many as 8-9 of them do push-ups like, like waves. I've never seen this before. Did this originate from Liverpool? Lol.
Since Joey had seen us at Xinyun's wedding, we got the same team back - Ein Ein, Shoujie and me. We were encouraged by the guests' appreciation for live music, and guess what? Music did not stop when our performance ended at 11pm. They had disco music for some good fun dancing!
Thank you Anthony and Joey for inviting us to sing at your wedding! It was a smash!
