Jonathan's thoughts: The Moon Represents My Heart

Teddy and Tini’s wedding was a very elegant and delightful affair. Choosing to keep it small, the couple decided to hold their wedding at the cozier Straits Room instead of the cavernous ballroom at the Fullerton Hotel.

As if to keep things in that mood, Teddy and Tini opted for a two-piece band, Serene and myself, to perform some swing and bossa nova tunes while the guests wined and dined. And on top of a little musical entertainment, their wedding was superbly anchored by their eloquent friend and emcee, Richard. He guided the guests through the wedding with much gusto, interspersing his lines with a few hilarious anecdotes!

Also, as a special “guest appearance”, Hsin Yeow also turned up at the beginning of the wedding and did a soulful rendition of 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart), much to the guests’ utmost delight. This song was specially chosen by Teddy as a dedication to his bride.

The couple was very easygoing and left most of the artistic license (i.e., the choice of repertoire) to Serene and me. However, Teddy did request for a particular march-in piece: Here Comes the Bride. Which, of course, I gladly obliged. This was actually the first time I’m playing this traditional tune at a wedding. Talk about elegance and simplicity!

After the wedding, many guests came up to convey their compliments and appreciation for Serene’s wonderful voice (which I definitely concur!); Teddy and Tini themselves approached us and warmly thanked us for the music. My heartiest congratulations to the lovely couple and sincere thanks for letting us play a part on your big day!

Compliments from Teddy:

Dear A Little Dream,

I'm writing this email at airport right now, remembering my wedding day 2 days ago at Fullerton Hotel, where I still remember very well that my dad shed tears when one of the most sentimental songs sung by one of you, Mr Hsin.

My wedding was supposed to be accompanied by Mr Jon, the piano player and Ms Serene, the beautiful singer, but when I heard a male voice sing the opening song, instead of a lady, I was surprised. It was Mr Hsin, who personally came to my wedding just to sing that song for me.

Only one thing I can say, THANK YOU, to you Mr Hsin, indeed we met just once, but I really got your friendship at once.

I really have no doubt from the moment I met you just a week before the wedding, that you can deliver a “class” performance, not only you, but your whole team.

While for Mr Jon, your piano skill is excellent, I believe we met face to face less than 5 minutes, but you delivered all…. Thank You.

And for Ms Serene, i got feedback from three of my friends, that you sound like a Diva, I'm not exaggerating.

So overall I can say Two Thumbs Up, for all of you.

Once again, thank you Hsin, let’s have a drink once a while… all right……cheers….

Best Regards,
Teddy & TINI
