Jo's thoughts: Days Of Wine & Roses
It's always something to be part of a wedding in the holiday-like, tropical, al-fresco surrounds of One Rochester, and the 3rd of February was specially holiday-like with guests from all over the world, being the union of the beautiful Singaporean Cindy and a dashing Guillaume from France.
It was a gathering of friends from several different continents who arrived from their respective far-and-aways to celebrate the matrimony of the gorgeous couple and to send them down the joyful aisle; and while happy voices rang out in languages ranging from French, English and Mandarin, just to name a few, us musicians added our noise to the party with the universal language of music…specifically of jazz love songs. As the quote goes "jazz does not belong to one race or culture, but is a gift to the world."

By "us musicans" I meant one of Singapore's leading saxophonists Teo Boon Chye; Fingers-of-Fire, guitarist Feri Susanto who plays with the Thomson Swing Band among others, and my unassuming self on vocals. It was awesome twosome to make music with and a genuinely happy, beautiful couple of Cindy and Guillaume to make music for, all in all a very, very lovely wedding.
Watching the quietly joyful new Mr and Mrs as they walked, sipped wine and received warm congratulations on a pebbled floor strewn with rose petals, we would like to add our warmest wishes to those of their friends from all over the wide world: that they live, and love, happily ever after.
