Er- sir? Are you alright? Or, no, I guess that's a stupid question-

No such thing as stupid questions. Only people stupid enough to answer them.

My vision isn't blurry and my speech isn't slurred, so I think I'll live.

Perhaps I should rephrase and call it an obvious question, then.

I guess it's nice to know you haven't suffered any immediate physical trauma, but nonetheless, is there anything I can do to help? It sounds as though you're a new arrival.

No such thing as an obvious question, neither. Only people who think out loud.

So helpful, people in this place! Well, I got the guide or whatever, and I got my marching orders, and I got a bed to stay in. But being well-informed never hurt anyone I guess.

That sounds rather forgiving, if you ask me.

Marching orders...? Well, the guide is certainly helpful and should help you get situated for the first few days, although I find that it's not all that expansive and perhaps even a little out of date. So if there's anything you'd like to know... sounds like you took a rather nasty fall.

You would be surprised to learn that I am not a very forgiving kind of guy.

How to leave. But I hear it's not happenin'.

It's all relative, whether one is forgiving or not. Who knows, perhaps you'll find that in the City, you'd be considered quite forgiving compared to the majority of the population.

There's no documented method to leave by choice, no. Although I've heard mention of doors, deals in the past, and some have been able to sense when others are to leave.

Sure, sure. It's mostly people closest to me who get the cold shoulder anyway.

Sounds like your typical run-o-the-mill alternate dimension to me, then. Lame. Lame and unfortunate.

It isn't necessarily a bad thing to be in the habit of.

...you're familiar with alternate dimensions, then?

A little, yeah. I read a lot?

Well, I meant more along the lines of... did they exist, where you came from? For a moment it sounded like you were speaking from experience.

Yeah, they did. But it's not really something people like me have to worry about.

I'm sorry for all the questions, I must be prying. It's just that I'd never heard of alternate dimensions before coming here. At most, barriers, altering one's perception.

Not something that people like you have to worry about?

It's not asking questions that makes people annoying. It's not asking a question when they needed to in the first place. Believe me.

It's a long story. And not one I wanna talk about.

Don't I know the feeling. Unfortunately, a majority of people might not agree with that sentiment. Their loss, I feel.

...I won't ask further then.

I'm Hermione Granger. Are you sure that there's nothing I can help with? Perhaps a cup of hot cocoa, at least?

Joachim. I don't need any help, but you've got a good head on your shoulders. Even if you sound like you could use to chill out more.
