You see, that depends on the context. Back at home I had to be loud to talk over all the screaming, so in that context being loud is good.

I don't know much but I think it makes you look distinguished.

It's like...it's an important ritual. It says that someone is officially of that faith when they get it. It's like when you officiate a king or a boat-- well a boat is a bad example --or a queen or something.

The kid can't understand. It's mostly to make the parents feel more at ease, I think. Obviously there's more nuance or whatever to it. But the long and short of it is that meeting and making a fuss about something makes people feel better.

I should have been. But my family was a little too busy and a little too guilty to want to deal with their own faith. I'm not complaining, it's just the truth.
