"Happy" Holidays?
Can I be one to say that I don't like the holidays? Other than getting a break from work and school... it's boring.
Correction.... I don't like the way the media potrays the holidays. Everyone is suppose to be spending thousands of dollars on each other, while spending all day slaving over a dinner for 20+ people that just love each other so dearly, and looking magnificant all at the same time. Don't forget playing the piano and singing songs after dinner!!!
When in reality people are spending money they don't have, having a breakdown making dinner for all those family members who are probably unapperciative... not to mention more food than can be eaten and thus wasted when there are families right in Michigan that can't afford a meal. And, that so called family closeness is driving each other crazy. Lastly, because they don't reflect the media potrayal of the holidays, they end up feeling more like shit.
Wow I hate being pessimistic but someone has to, right? I only wish that people could be grateful for what they have and not try to fulfill these expectations..... life is hard enough as it is. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars to be happy.
As for me, I will be going to the bars tonight and drinking my pessimisstic attitudes away.
