A lull in conversation

Hi, long time no see friendslist huh? I've been operating very off the map from LJ recently, or not posting much in any case but lurking in all corners as usual.

But I thought considering I've found a little time to myself I need to tell someone/anyone about:

TEKKEN: THE MOVIE

I got FREE tickets to see this time courtesy of t8_steve and it is just as terrible as you think it would be based on the trailer... in fact it's kind of like the Dragonball movie, so bad you can't turn away from the travesty.

I have to say it still got me nostalgic for my most favourite of all fandoms, Tekken. It was also completely hilarious to me they basically turned Jin into a man whore who wants it anywhere it can get it. Also Steve Fox had a gigantic boner for him, and no one can tell me otherwise. There are some scenes where Steve Fox (who happens to be much older and less surfer) is eye glittering at Jin and I swear to god they're about to kiss.

Did it bother me that the film was so heavily white washed and that Jin is so… unbuff at times? Yes. Did it bother me that there are SENSELESS sex scenes and how women are portrayed in general in this film (either as sex objects, damsels in distress, rape victims or honest-to-god-prostitutes-for-hire-cough-williams-sisters) sets back the feminist movement about 10 years? Lord yes. Massive eyeroll is to be had. Also massive retching considering the Jin Kazama I have in my head is a nice boy who has never touched a lady and is as scared of vagina as John Sheppard.

In a weird kind of role reversal he's now a smooth talking womanizer who cheats on his slum dog girlfriend and likes to think he can bang chicks way, way out of his league on the side.

Though I guess the boy had his moments, the applied lack of shirt helps and the little moments when he's not speaking and ruining things with his poorly hidden Manchester accent. Especially when he had that little grin on his face when he got his gloves, I was all ready to pet his little duckbutt head. I only wish Steve Fox could've been there to actually, y'know pounce on that untapped ass.

The film itself did have some really interesting fight scenes, some crazy jumps and insane par'qour style leaps and was super riveting when no one tried to attempt dialogue.

It did sorely lacked one huge thing. Hwoarang.

But hey, that’s just opening it up for fic right? Because in my world, Jin isn’t just hard up for girls, he's just... unsuspecting of the other side.

Or something. He kind of charmed me in his petulant, emo-rage against the corporations Luke Skywalker way.

The scene where he discovered that Kazuya was his father, man the whole cinema couldn't contain themselves, we all yelled out at once. "NOOOOO IT CAN'T BE. IT CAN'T BE TRUE." It was Star Wars without the Cloud City.

But now I'm itching for good old fashioned Tekken fic and alas there appears to be none to be found.

Anyways I also want to share something AMAZING. orlisroses29 has made an Inception Vid of AU! Arthur/Eames and it's absolutely brilliant. Beautifully crafted and heartwrenching and makes you want more.

I've been hitting Inception and Sherlock Fandom HARD these days. It's a glorious return to fandom.
