Here's a list of long fics that recently shook up my fannish self:
So, I looked through my old entries and realised I haven't actually recced this!
When The House Falls Down By
sowellFandom: Naruto
Pairing: SasuNaru
Rating: NC-17
Summary: When the house falls down, all that's left is to rebuild.
Why: Just when I thought Naruto fanfiction was drying up, I find this little gem of a fic, and promptly had my mind blown and my eyebrows singed off. It's possibly the most SATISFYING ending to the manga as it is currently, and delivers something I've been craving and didn't even realise: A Naruto and Sasuke fic that shows their development from the Naruto and Sasuke of the past. There is such a stark emotion and mental growth of the Sasuke and Naruto characters in this fic because it progresses from a place where most other fics don't venture for fear of being jossed. Naruto finally succeeds at capturing Sasuke, but conjoling him back from the depths of his own Vengeance is a infinitely harder. It has enough angst to fill twenty buckets, but the payoff is glorious. The kind of fic that will grip you and have you reading until sunrise it's that good.
FFVII Will always have a special place in my heart. especially when it brings me so much lolz.

Also a fic which I had to stop everything and read.
Sheppard's Law by
cesperanzaFandom: SGA
Pairing: The most EPIC McShep YOU WILL EVER HAVE THE GRACE TO READ.
Rated: NC-17
Why YOU SHOULD READ IT EVEN BEFORE READING THIS.
It's fucking Awesome is why. No really. There are fics which make you intensely happy, and then there are the fics that take your breath away and literally blow your mind until you realise you're typing up the rec for it in your head AS YOU READ.
Time travel is my one and only kink. I will read all manner of tripe if it has a convincing enough time travel plotline, which is not to say this story is bad, in fact it's completely and totally opposite. This, is Time Travel in it's purest and native form. Where what manifests is a revisioning of your entire world as you read it, as if the author somehow went back, took your canon by the roots and pulled until it became this replaced it and rang true. Cesperanza has written the ENTIRETY of John Sheppard's 40 years of life and not one second of it is out of character or out of place. She writes of a Rodney who has to save him every step along the way, form child to adulthood, the most obnoxious Quantuam Leap traveller ever and yet he endearingly rearranges everything we know to be SGA in the most wonderful Mobieus possible. And when it all meets up again, and you come to the most startling and profound conclusion that, after reading this fic, this is unshakeably where my canon is now. This is the fic that made me realise that John and Rodney really are my one true pairing.
My Old Ways by
derryereFandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: NC-17
Summary: In trying to become a better person, Harry seeks the help of a certain professional.
Why: I never actually seen Draco written like this. It's sort of extraordinary since I thought everything had been done in this fandom but clearly I was wrong. Harry, after being dumped by Ginny is in a stint, so he decides the only way he can get out of his rut is to be magnimous and 'help people' by becoming a better person. Cue Harry's attempts at being an awkward douchebag. While attempting to help the homeless however he finds Draco Malfoy who has since become a spiritual leader, a person who has gone through a self proclaimed rebirth. Harry of course, comes to the conclusion he's insane but of course he can't just... leave him there. What comes after is some of the most hilarious writing I've ever had the pleasure to come across. There are seriously at times I broke down, laughing for a solid 20 minutes. This fic also has moments of inspiration though, and through just the odd use of characterisation, keeps you guessing for a solid 50,000 words. The ending is just as brillant.
