I've now had the lovely experience of needing to go to the loo while still 20 minutes away from home, in a NEW CAR, while I also, had my period. And no pads. sjkadjkasd. Why is life so craptacular all at once?!
BUT, I also have some
Sanji/Ace COMMENT PORN I wrote when ZAPPED by the awesome
art powers of
luco_millian. It's now sitting pretty on my desk top.
It's been ages since I've written anything. I'm so rusty I could infect people with tetanus.
In other news:
Angus and Robertson Bookchain tries to rip off small publishers for thousands of dollars each. Tower Books' Michael Rakusin elegantly gives them a literary middle finger.
I can't believe A&R tried this. This seems like yet another notch in what I've come to see as Business's War On Literature. Recently it seems like every single independent form of writing is in danger of being eliminated by 'economics' and 'company values'.
A&R especially, everytime I ask for a specific title (and I usually bring a whole list of choices), they have NONE, bupkis, they haven't even heard of these books touching their shiny computer systems. When I go to Dymocks, or Kinokuniya, I get a few hits back, and when I go to Galaxy Books, nearly every single one of the books I look for would be found. Or I trapise around second hand book stores. A&R just don't seem to cater to people looking for variety anymore. When I want to buy best sellers, I don't even GO to A&R because on top of the limited selection, they overcharge! I got my Harry Potter, aptly from Toys R Us, for $20. Anything else I would head down to Big W because I get a discount. Basement Books is ultimately where I get all my books now, simply because that is a hellish place, where somehow, despite not intending to buy a book, you will come out of there, with one in hand, staring down in bewilderment at this TOME of a novel, non-fiction (or three) you've purchased for obscenely low prices.
I shall now go and sit delicately on a heater. :D
