HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

I hope y'all hauled in big for red packets. This year, as my auntie tells me, is lucky for those born in year of the rabbit, so I'm going to reap and sow and take my chances.

I yumcha'ed and shopped and got squished in crowds, saw the obligatory lion dance had the obligatory New Years dessert of quarish gelatin paste which is fried and burned the obligatory incense at temple. And then I went to work, dead tired, where upon one of my supervisors ruined what could have been a good day by telling me I lost $50 somehow (despite me NOT REMEMBERING ANY SUCH THING *SUSPICIOUS*), and from what I can see, this is my third strike. So now I'm seeing when the hammer drops since the policy is third strike = cutting me like a gutted fish from the payroll D:

I also watched Byakkotai, starring Yamapi and Koki in quaint Japanese period costumes and crazy hairdos, and honestly I was bored. Bored to the point I found it funny in the oddest ways. This is how the first part read to me:

Pi's modern grandmother: BACK IN MY DAY, YOUNG KIDS LIKE YOU DIED EARLY.
Pi: Yeay?
*sakura blossoms*: THAT'S RIGHT BITCHES.
Nisshinkan school: YOU ARE ALL GOING TO DIE.
Pi + Koki: Um. Really?
Pi's mother: YOU ARE GOING TO DIE. So stop whining!
Pi: But-
Pi's Grandmother: DIE HONORABLY
Pi: But we were just looking at leaves...
Pi's mother: STOP TALKING MY SON-WHO-IS-GOING-TO-DIE.
Pi: But I was just picking herbs because YOU'RE going to die!
Pi's mother: *SMACK*
Koki talks to some girl: Hi.
Girl: OMG YOU ARE SO BRAVE, for SOMEONE WHO IS GOING TO DIE.
Koki: I am.
Dog: *rabies*
Girl: LET ME HEAL YOU sexually!
Koki: OMG A GIRL TOUCHED ME.
Pi: Give it up man, BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO DIE.
Koki: But... aw.
The Lord: Too bad those boys we're training ARE GOING TO DIE.
Advisors: You are wise and good looking.
AIZU: PEOPLE DIE EVERYWHERE.
The Lord: Okay, let's send them in to die.
Pi + Koki + everyone else: Woo. Finally.
The theme from the second Australian Idol finals play and fails spectacularily at being moving, simply because it isn't JAPANESE ENOUGH.

Seriously, they couldn't go TWO MINUTES in this entire drama without hammering the fact to me that Yamapi and Koki are GOING. TO. DIE. It passed 'excessive' and crossed into having too much of it caused some diabetic 'death omen' disease.

My prediction for the second part? Yamapi and Koki are going to die. But not before they pop out some kids so the narrative makes sense, what with the direct lineage and all. Plz be more subtle jdrama, we get it already.
