It's been a while (note: like, two days but it seems longer in real time). But seeing as I'm tied between Tekken playing and Stargate watching (SEASON 8 WOO!), I'll post a quick list of recs:
FINAL FANTASY VII
Sex-Ed with Chocobo-Head and the Man of the Phallic Sword by
9tails... not worksafe? But necessary. Oh so necessary.
Why: This is the answer to all those fics where Cloud is mysteriously easy to get into, yes, I mean in that way. He isn't a girl, and mako isn't a substitute for lube. Also. So funny I completely snorted tea up my nose.
CLOUD: I think you need to get out of the metaphorical test tube.
SEPHIROTH: But it's so *comfortable*.

This is kinda cool:
A list of Gay MoviesI'm always on the hunt for movies that do justice to gay relationships that are not either: horribly depressing, horribly done, or horribly characterised.
taraerin has pointed out correctly that most gay movies fail to have two good looking guys together, so in the purely shallow sense, the best ones have Teh Pretty in them, ala Velvet Goldmine. Not a complete list, from what I can see, they missed Century Hotel, Dark Harbour, Head On, Stonewall, Alexander (theatrical cut), Bad Education, Interview with The Vampire (it's innuendo enough to classify), Party Monster (shudder, it isn't MUCH of one and it sucks, but still) Jarhead, shut up, it so is).
Still, it's interesting to me since I have a theory that all good actors have a gay role/gay movie in them somewhere... though that sometimes isn't true in the 'good actor part (Keanu Reeves in My Own Private Idaho). Still, in most cases, they do. See: David Hewlett in Century Hotel, Ewan McGregor, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ioan Gruffud, Cary Elwes + Colin Firth + Rupert Everett IN THE SAME DAMN MOVIE wooo, even Christopher Reeve so on so on. Mostly so Tara can HUNT DOWN THESE MOVIES FOR ME SO I CAN PERVE DAMN YOU.

Summary: Elizabeth makes mistakes, Halling runs for president of Atlantica, and Sheppard accidentally learns something about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. McKay/Sheppard.
Why: It's the wonderful crack that manages to be funny from beginning to end, and Elections in general crack me up, as well as the idea of Halling, President of Alantica.

Tantalising Quote: Rodney thought for a moment, then took a pen from his pocket and let it fall to the floor. He leaned down and picked it up. “You dropped this,” he said, taking John’s hand into his, as slowly as he dared, opening the closed fingers with a gentle brush of his own. He pressed the pen into John’s palm, then slowly curled John’s fingers back over it, squeezing the knuckles, feeling the slight scrape of his nails, memorizing the patterns of lines and ridges.
Why: This is one of those thought provoking, 'It Could Happen' kind of fics. DADT chips implanted in the brain in all military personelle, enforcing behaviour. John and Rodney, not touching, but still managing to charge the air with sexual tension. It makes me sad to think about John having to live with this for years and years, but it's that idea of trial and overcoming that makes the ending of this so wonderful and satisfying.
