I spend a lot of time on the LuRe LJ and the Soapcentral board, discussing Luke and Reid and to some extent, Noah. Even a few weeks after Reid's death and one week after the show ended, I'm still upset, angry and bitter. I probably will be for a while, with the emphasis on BITTER. But my one silver lining in all of this, is the fact that both fanbases got screwed over. Reid died, but Nuke didn't get back together, nor will they ever, IMO. I saw nothing in their final scenes that indicates a Nuke reunion in the future. Christopher Goutman's "potential rapprochement" was the perfect description, because it's nothing more than a rapprochement, Luke and Noah's re-establishment of cordial relations.
And yet, there are still people who claim that Luke is still into Noah, was checking out his ass when Noah left and that writing an epilogue (by one of ATWT's writers, Susan Dansby) will make a Luke and Noah canon endgame. That epilogue would be just as valid as me posting my fix it fic in about a week and calling that canon. If Dusty can survive an autopsy and still be fit enough to roundhouse kick mobsters (SEE: Below), then Reid can fake his own death, or carve himself out of Chris (Check out this amazingly awesome and mindblowing story:
Raise Up, Heart).
I don't know why people still think that Luke and Noah have a future as anything but friends. Luke told Noah that they weren't meant to be. Had nothing to do with Reid, apart from the fact that Reid was right for him, and it won't suddenly change, just because Reid died. Any "romantic" future for Luke and Noah would make Noah the default/2nd choice and I don't get why Noah fans would want that kind of future for him. When it came down to choosing between Noah and Reid, Luke repeatedly chose Reid. Reid is the one he wanted to be with, have a life with and Reid will always be a part of Luke's life. I honestly don't see Noah accepting that and I don't see Luke settling for a relationship with someone who won't. Luke grew up, grew out of the relationship and realized it was not what he wanted or needed. End of story.

And there are also people, who insist that Reid made both Luke and Noah grow up, as Reid's death was supposed to mature Luke and make him a "real man" or something. No idea what show those people are watching, because Luciano is already a man (a fine one at that) and has grown tremendously in the past year WITH Reid and in realizing that a relationship with Noah isn't what he wants or needs. Reid's death had no purpose, other than giving asshat Chris "Doogie" Hughes a new heart and screwing over the gay couple, so that Katie "This is my true love until the next one" Peretti Frasier Kasnoff Coleman Snyder Snyder soon-to-be Hughes can get a happy ending.
As for Noah.... IMO, Noah hasn't shown all that much growth. He was a jerk to Reid and Luke, up until the moment Reid died and he never even thanked Reid for giving him his sight back. He also never apologized to Luke for repeatedly blaming him for the accident and didn't even want to be friends with Luke. And after Reid's death, he suddenly did a 180, saying stuff like "Reid was kind of my hero" and "I wish we could all be more like Reid". Oh, really? Where was this appreciation for Reid when he was still breathing? And he said those things, supposedly respecting and accepting that Luke loved Reid and was grieving, before trying to make out with Luke at WOAK. Wow, some growth.
That is all.
