Chapter 43: The prodigal son returns
Reid couldn’t take his eyes off Luke, as Luke took him in, all in, completely and without hesitation. It hit Reid right then, how he’d ached for Luke for so long, and how he’d needed him in his life, even before he’d met him.
Luke felt better than anything he could have imagined, so right, so open to him, so gloriously and eagerly accepting of him, of his mouth and fingers and cock. Luke’s ass was impossibly tight and warm, overwhelming and all consuming, and every inch he delved deeper into Luke was an inch he could succumb to. When he was completely buried in Luke’s ass, Luke’s soft, swollen lips slightly parted, and his eyes shut for a moment, as if keeping his eyes open was too much of an effort.
Luke exhaled slowly, as he felt Reid’s cock throbbing and pulsating inside of him, filling him up. There was a slight burn as he adjusted to the size and feel, but he liked it more and more as time went on and it slowly made way for sensations that could perhaps satisfy his need, tame whatever the ache in his gut represented, at least for a while.
The sight of Luke quivering on top of him, was a sight Reid didn’t think he would ever stop wanting. Or needing. He needed this, to see Luke like this every damn hour of every damn day, and the thought of changing only one tiny thing in Luke’s expression, made him almost afraid to move. He shut his own eyes for a moment, and when he opened them again, Luke was looking right at him, his eyes dark and full of heat.
“You okay?” Luke whispered, his voice hoarse and thick with arousal.
Reid slowly nodded, licking his lips. “Never better. You?”
“Uhhuh.” Luke leaned down to meet Reid’s lips, gasping in Reid’s mouth, as Reid held him there by the back of his neck to deepen the kiss. Finally, their lips broke apart, but Luke didn’t pull back, instead lingering and keeping his face only inches away from Reid’s as he hovered over him. “It’s just- It’s been a while, but it’s good. You feel so good, Reid.” Reid swallowed thickly, pressing another kiss on Luke’s lips.
Luke sat up straighter, his hands on Reid’s chest, and he started to move, slowly rolling his hips and building up the heat. Reid felt it building up, the pressure and strain, as he heard his own heavy breaths, and the sound of the headboard thumping softly against the wall whenever Luke sank back down on his cock, getting louder and harder the more Luke moved.
Reid let his hands explore Luke’s body, as he let him take control and set the pace. His eyes took in every inch of Luke’s body as he moved above him, from the drops of sweat on his forehead and his throat to his hard nipples, the constricting muscles of his abdomen and his thick, heavy cock.
It took every bit of self restraint Reid had not to pound into him relentlessly and come right then and there. Luke was moving impossibly slow, driving Reid closer and closer to the edge, only to pull him right back each time. Reid groaned, as he tried to keep an ounce of control, tried to let Luke take his time, but his attempts grew messier the more he lost himself in the sight and feel of Luke, in the tight heat surrounding his cock.
Luke leaned down again, meeting Reid’s lips in sloppy kisses, crushing more and more bits and pieces of Reid’s control as Luke moaned in his mouth. Luke sped up eventually, drawing in breaths in hitches as he rode Reid’s cock, and Reid gripped his hips even tighter, holding Luke down. He bent his knees and set his feet flat on the mattress, and he started thrusting up into him, unable to take it any longer.
Luke found himself at a loss for words, incoherent and breathless as Reid hit just the right spot. He felt like he’d been on the edge forever, so close to coming he could barely think or breathe. Each one of Reid’s thrusts made him crave for more, yearn for nothing else but Reid’s cock hitting his prostate again and again and more and harder and deeper and closer, so, so much closer.
He felt it building up, hitting every nerve, rummaging in his gut and exhausting every fiber and he felt feverish and ecstatic and strung out on the building tension. He jerked his cock, staring right into Reid’s eyes, needing more friction, more of everything. All of it, all of Reid, everything felt right and he never ever wanted this to change.
Reid thrust harder, losing all control as he watched Luke come undone. A few more thrusts and Reid came, groaning as he dug his fingers deeper into Luke’s skin, lingering on his prostate and holding Luke down until Luke came as well, crying out and spilling his come over his hands and Reid’s chest.
Slowly, they came down from their high, panting and rocking slightly, until the time came for Reid to pull out. Luke felt the loss immediately and he felt exhausted and sore and high, as though nothing could ever ruin this and tarnish what they had. Luke got off him, and Reid disposed of the condom and disappeared into the bathroom, coming back with a washcloth to clean his chest and Luke’s hands.
Luke admired Reid’s naked body as he came walking toward Luke, and his insides began to stir again at the sight. Reid sat down next to him, silently wiping Luke’s hands and then his own chest, as Luke watched him like a hawk. Eventually, he looked up and their eyes locked, making Luke blush at the heat still visible in Reid’s eyes. Reid pulled Luke closer by the back of his neck, making their lips crash into each other, and he kissed him deeply and hungrily, as though he still needed more.
Then, Reid disappeared back into the bathroom for a moment to get rid of the washcloth, and when he came back, he caught Luke staring at him, naked and propped up one elbow. Reid leaned against the doorway, admiring Luke’s form, his skin still glistened with sweat.
“So much for normal, huh?”
“As it turns out, normal is overrated.” Luke said, smiling faintly. He held out his hand. “Come here and sleep with me, emphasis on sleep. You’ve worn me out, Dr. Oliver.”
Reid walked over to his bed, turning off the lights, before taking Luke’s hand and getting in bed. Luke turned his back to Reid, allowing Reid to spoon him, and Luke promptly fell asleep as soon as he felt Reid’s arms around him and the sheets covering his body. He didn’t notice Reid planting kisses on his shoulder, or how Reid muttered what are you doing to me against his skin.
Reid slept better than he had in what seemed like forever.
********
The first thing Luke thought of when he opened his eyes, still half asleep, was Reid. His Reid. He woke up with a smile, hoping to catch Reid still asleep, but as he turned around, he noticed the spot next to him was empty. His eyes flew open, and he sat up straight, looking around for something that would tell him where Reid was. Reid’s clothes from last night were gone, and his own were now placed neatly next to his shoes.
Luke got out of bed, slipping into Reid’s dark blue scrub pants, and he walked out of Reid’s bedroom, soon hearing faint noises in the kitchen.
“Reid?” Luke called out, walking into the living room. He turned toward the kitchen, when he was met with the sight of Reid leaning back against the kitchen counter in a shirt and jeans, as he sipped from his coffee mug. Luke’s mouth went dry.
The moment Reid noticed him, he felt a slight shiver down his spine and his face turned a fierce shade of red. Luke cast his eyes downward and only then realized he was shirtless with marks on his collarbone and hipbones from where Reid had held him down as he’d pounded into him. When he looked back up again, he saw a flicker of want in Reid’s eyes like Reid could read his mind and knew exactly what he was thinking of.
Reid felt it like an itch he needed to scratch, in his bones and his throbbing flesh. Luke. There was something primal about the way his body reacted to Luke’s presence, animalistic, as though taking and having Luke was a basic instinct and a basic need. Perhaps even a basic right.
And it was more than that, Reid realized, more than merely the basic, primal instinct to take Luke. He ached and longed for him in a way that went beyond that. And that was new to him, even though he knew it had been bubbling right under the surface since they’d met. He felt a warmth when he looked at him, something completely natural and effortless, and it was absolutely terrifying, but the urge to run had gone away.
“Good morning.” Reid said, his voice low and thick. He remembered how Luke had sounded last night. He remembered how Luke had gasped and how his breathing had changed the closer he’d come to finding his release. Reid remembered every clench of Luke’s hole around his cock, every inch and every molecule of Luke’s body moving on top of him.
“Hi.” Luke exhaled a shaky breath, wanting to touch Reid so much, that his hands slightly quivered. “Why aren’t you in bed?”
“I was hungry.”
“For breakfast?”
“For you. But you looked like freakin’ Sleeping Beauty, so I came here instead.” Reid didn’t mention how he’d spent countless minutes staring at Luke first, or how he’d been only a minute away from going back to bed to stare at him some more.
Luke licked his dry lips, ducking his head for a moment and tugging his right ear as though he was nervous, only to look back up at Reid through his eyelashes. Luke resisted the urge to groan, feeling Reid’s eyes on every inch of his body, and it made him feel jittery, as he could feel his blood throbbing through his veins, and his heart pounded in his ears, pounding harder with every second of Reid’s stare. Reid’s eyes were dark, as he stared at Luke intensely, feeling as though he could crack and crumble and succumb to Luke at any time.
“Wake me up next time?” It wasn’t so much a question or a request, as an order or a demand. Luke didn’t realize the words had left his lips, until he saw Reid’s eyes softening for a brief moment at the desperation in his voice, the sheer and bare need conveyed by five simple words.
Reid carefully placed his coffee mug on the counter behind him, careful as if any drop of coffee overflowing would set him off beyond control, and he walked over to Luke like a predator, aching to attack. His right hand twitched as if he couldn’t handle the pressure.
The second Luke was within his reach, he lunged forward, grabbing Luke’s face with both hands and kissing him hard and deeply, demanding the entrance he longed for, as though years had passed instead of hours. Luke returned the kiss, sighing a sigh of relief the moment Reid’s lips crashed into his, and he kissed Reid back just as fervently, as he pressed on the small of Reid’s back, pulling Reid flush against him.
Reid ignited the hunger inside of Luke, appearing on cue as though he was cursed to feel it around Reid forever. As his hands snuck underneath Reid’s shirt, urging him on to shuck it off, Reid guided them backwards toward the bedroom, kissing and stumbling. Reid’s shirt dropped to the floor behind them, as they entered his bedroom. They were near Reid’s bed, only inches away, when they heard a noise, getting louder and louder by the second.
Reid broke the kiss, panting hard as he looked down at the source. He groaned, muttering a curse word under his breath, before checking his pager.
“I have to go… Emergency consult.”
Luke sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. “Okay. Call me when you’re done.”
“Noted. You can go on and take a shower if you want to. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone, so could you lock up for me?”
“Sure.” Reid kissed him again. “Go be your brilliant self.”
“When am I not?”

“The prodigal son returns!” Luke froze, startled, before turning around to face his sister. He was trying to get to his bedroom unnoticed, as it was still early enough for everyone to be asleep, and he was now only a few feet away from his threshold. Faith had a much too mischievous look on her face, as she leaned against her own doorway, her arms crossed over her chest defiantly. She looked every bit the teenager she was. “And he got laid!”, Faith added, tilting her head to the side, as she took in Luke’s appearance.
“Faith, could you keep your voice down?!” Luke hissed, looking around to see if any other door was open.
“Relax, Luke. I told Mom you came home late last night and that she should let you sleep.” Luke sighed in relief. The last thing he needed was his mother interrogating him about Reid, when he selfishly wanted to keep Reid all to himself for a little while. “She had to drop Ethan off at a friend’s house and do a million other things. She’s trying to keep herself busy, so she won’t have to think about Dad and Molly coming home this Friday.”
“Okay, thanks. Look- I’m going to go and take a nap, so…” He turned around and started to walk away, when Faith spoke up again.
“Besides, I don’t think she’s ready to hear all about what the good doctor is doing to her precious baby.”
“Faith.” He opened his mouth in protest, but she rolled her eyes, reminding Luke of Reid for a split second, and it made a faint smile tug at his lips despite himself.
“She told me, and I quote, ‘Dr. Oliver doesn’t seem like a very nice man’.” She sounded more like their mom than Luke would ever admit.
“She’s right, he’s not. Reid is very much not nice- he’s… rude and cold and… rude.”
“Right. And I told her that maybe you need somebody like that. I mean- Noah was nice, and look where that got you.”
“Gee, thanks.”
“I’m just saying… Maybe this Reid guy is exactly what you need in your life.”
“I’m starting to think he is.”
“Good. I want you to be happy, Luke. Natalie and Ethan really need that, to see you happy, after all of mom and dad’s screw ups. They’re fragile and innocent and all that.” Faith rolled her eyes once more, pretending it didn’t affect her, but Luke could see right through her. Ever since she was little, Luke had been the only one who could read her like a book, and knew exactly what she was feeling just by looking at her.
“Just Natalie and Ethan, huh?”
“Yeah, I’m too far gone. Corrupted and messed up. Better lock up your children!”
“Now, see- I don’t believe that.” Luke said, walking over to her. “You deserve to be happy, Faith. Just as much as Ethan and Natalie.”
“Yeah, yeah- I know. Don’t get all mushy on me. I get it, Luke.” Luke leaned down and pressed a kiss on her forehead, hugging her and she reluctantly returned the embrace. “Now go and take your nap and I’ll wake you up in about two hours.”
“Thank you.”
“Sure.” Luke smiled at her, and turned to walk toward his bedroom, when Faith spoke up once more. “Oh, and Luke? Might wanna take care of those hickeys you’ve got there.”
********
Reid entered his and Katie’s apartment, hours later. The emergency consult had turned out to be a severe case that immediately required surgery, and he’d spent several hours trying to fix his new patient. Of course, he’d succeeded, adding another complex case to his nearly flawless track record.
He went into the kitchen, opening the fridge and he marveled at what he found. There was a sandwich, neatly conserved in tin foil, with a note attached to it, saying ‘Something to hold you over until next time’. Reid took it out and smiled, and as he started to eat his delicious sandwich -though it wasn’t as tasty as Luke-, Katie came out of the bedroom.
“Hiya, roomie!”
Reid mustered up some kind of greeting, his mouth completely full. Katie took the other seat at the dinner table, and she stared at Reid, trying to hide her grin, but failing miserably. Reid dropped his sandwich, blankly staring right back at her, until she couldn’t take it anymore.
“Well?”
“Well, what?”
“Well, how was it? Was it good? I bet it was.”
“Yes, this sandwich sure is fantastic.” Reid took another huge bite with a grin.
“Reid! You know that’s not what I’m talking about. Listen- I saw Luke’s car driving off the parking lot, when I came home this morning. I know he stayed the night.”
“That he did. But I don’t kiss and tell.”
“Come on! You do realize that I live vicariously through you and Luke, right? I have no love life of my own to speak of.”
“Please, spare me the details, but does that mean Doogie didn’t get to second base, then?”
“Chris didn’t get anywhere, ‘cause my date wasn’t actually a date. So there. We watched a movie with Jacob, and then fell asleep on the couch. Can you believe that?!”
“It’s been known to happen.”, Reid muttered under his breath.
“So, when we woke up this morning, Chris was acting weird, like simply falling asleep was a bad thing… And when I confronted him about it, he kept insisting he was fine, but he clearly wasn’t. He was so pale, and almost scared even, like he’d seen a ghost. It was just so weird, Reid. Do you think he’s hiding something from me?”
“If he is, then he’s an idiot.”
“Reid. He’s pushing me away, okay? And it’s not the first time. And he’s my friend, I want him to feel like he can talk to me about anything.” Katie paused, looking thoughtful for a moment, before continuing. “I have to get to the bottom of this.”
Reid could see the wheels starting to spin, the light bulb being turned on above her head. In the time that he’d known her, Reid had become pretty familiar with how Katie’s mind worked, as much as she still seemed to catch him off guard. And he’d recognize the current look on her face anywhere, the look of Katie Peretti Snyder coming up with some sort of diabolical scheme.
“No, Sherlock, you don’t. What is it with your incessant need to know everything about everyone? You’re like a dog with a bone.”
“Oh, please. The world is my oyster, doc. And stop pretending you don’t adore that part of me. You certainly liked it when I told you all about Luke.”
“Precisely not the point right now.” Reid narrowed his eyes at her. “All I’m saying, is that he’s a grown man, Katie, despite his rather questionable and unfortunate personality. He doesn’t need you to hold his hand and kiss it better. If he doesn’t want to talk, he doesn’t want to talk.”
“But you don’t get it, Reid- What if he has this deep, dark secret?! This is Oakdale, Reid. Oakdale. And I can’t take the risk of letting myself get more attached to him, if he turns out to have, like, a microchip in his brain or something.”
“What?” Reid’s brow furrowed in confusion.
Katie shrugged. “Paul Ryan… Microchip planted in his brain by his evil father, James Stenbeck- Who I swear has about nine lives… Never mind- Back to Chris, please.”
“But what are you going to do? Shadow him and follow him around until you catch him doing something shady?”
“No, of course not! I have a life, you know. A baby, and my job at WOAK.” She reached out, covering Reid’s hands with her own, and she blinked rapidly, as she looked at him through her eyelashes. “So that’s where you come in!”
“No.”
“Reid! I’m not asking you to be his new BFF, but you work together.”
“We do not work together. I work, and he shows up at the hospital to prove and confirm his incompetence day in and day out.”
Katie rolled her eyes. “But you could keep an eye on him, right? Just look out for any unusual behavior.”
“Katie…”
“For me? Please, Reid. Please, please, please-”
“Stop looking at me like that. I mean it.”
“Please.”
Reid sighed. “Fine. But that’s the last favor you’re getting out of me, Peretti.”
********
Luke stood in front of Reid’s door that night, bouncing from one foot onto the other. He’d spent the day feeling out of focus, unable to think of anything but Reid and the previous night. Everything reminded him of Reid. Every surface he touched, reminded him of Reid’s touch.
And, now, here he was, knocking on Reid’s door because he needed to see him. Luke felt like Reid would be the only one to understand, the only one who realized why. It was like they were the only ones in the world who saw things clearly, who got it and who knew the one thing no one else could. It was as if they’d opened Pandora’s box, unleashing a million different things, which then all collided and fused into the simple notion that Luke wanted and needed and craved for more.
Reid eventually opened the door, and one look at him, told Luke that, yes, Reid was the only one. Reid understood. Reid wanted and needed and craved for more, too.
It took them exactly one minute and forty-eight seconds to reach Reid’s bed. They wasted no time. It took another fifty seconds to undress, and thirty more until they were rutting against each other, feeling every inch of skin within reach. After five minutes and thirty-five seconds, Luke found exactly what he needed, as Reid entered him with one long push. Five minutes and thirty-five seconds, and then Luke realized he wasn’t alone.
It took five minutes and thirty-five seconds, for Luke to feel like he was home.

A/N: Uh, be gentle? I'm going to go hide to bed.
