Holy smokes, non-fic post! LuRe fic library rant
I love the lure_ficlibrary , I do. It’s very exciting to be a part of “the team” and to make the community pretty and awesome and I love being able to reread a lot of fics or perhaps read fics for the first time. Despite the bad!fics (I cheer whenever I run into a bad!fic and realize I don’t have to index it, because it didn’t start in my assigned month) and despite the fact that the indexing never really stops, it’s a lot of fun and very satisfying, because organizing stuff makes me strangely happy and it’s a good way to fulfill my dorky, anal, obsessive, slightly ocd-ish and neurotic needs.
It’s great, really, really great, even if, sometimes, I freak out about the whole thing and bang my head on my desk and scream and pull my hair out. But that’s just a normal reaction, I suppose.
September was an awesome a horrible, horrible month to index. Really. I have no idea how my braintwin, (pghbekka) indexed several months (in two communities) and I hereby bow down to her infinite greatness. It’s like the entire fan base was hit with this massive surge of inspiration, because “Holy fuckballs” (Best phrase ever, thank you stl29tide ), September had a lot of fics. A huge amount of fix it fics, because TIIC (The Idiots in Control) decided to run a train over my OTP in The Ending That Never Happened and the entire fan base apparently needed a creative outlet, making September a very productive and angst-filled month. AND it’s complicated by the fact that I’m technically not “allowed” to read too many fix it fics, because I’m writing one myself.
So, yeah, wow, indexing fics is a lot of work. It’s exhausting and requires a great amount of patience, effort and time. Just this morning, I finally finished the September one shots -which I’ll be posting this weekend, if I can find the time- and now it’s on to the multi-chapter fics, Follow-Up, Ten words for Ten Prompts, shadownyc’s writer community (shadowofadeed), the November one shots and the November Multi-chapter fics, all while trying to finish Now and Again before my birthday on April 21st (fingers crossed), balancing two majors (Why did I want to do that again?), trying to have a social life (which has been non-existent since September, see: "balancing two majors"), taking a writing course (Yay for that, sooo excited), constantly refreshing my friends page (Because I can’t miss any updates, okay?) and working at a toy store.
Of course, I already knew it was going to be a lot of work and I certainly don’t regret signing up for it, but sometimes you just have to rant and let it out and whatnot. And seeing as I have this LJ and actually intend to do stuff with it, might as well rant here, right?
