I saw my first ice of the season yesterday. Dew water had eeked out of the forked crotch of a tree and froze froze froze. Other interesting sightings include: two hawk-on-squirrel attacks, one hawk eating a squirrel for lunch under a juniper bush.

i can't believe you actually saw a hawk feasting on a squirrel in the wild. i thought humans only got to see that in zoos or the discovery channel. pre-christmas miracle, i say.
