I'm feeling good about work at the moment. I am acting in the position above my usual position, and was feeling that I was only getting to do the boring administrative stuff like doing rosters and preparing statistical reports that nobody ever looked at. I know they are a part of the job, but I felt capable of doing a lot more.
I had also overheard my colleague telling staff things that were just incorrect, and felt that he should have asked me if he didn't know. I felt that his failure to do so was a slight on me, his assumption that I wouldn't know.
He is now acting as manager, and yesterday, he asked me my opinion on something that I knew about, and also asked me to contribute to a joint project with him on this topic, recognising my skills in that area. He also responded positively to my suggestion that I do some procedures on an area we have had problems with.
Doesn't take much to make you feel valued, does it? Must remember that ...
