I've lost 4lbs this week :-). Actually, I think at least one of them probably belongs to last week, because I'd been out for a meal the night before last week's weigh-in and that might've distorted things, but never mind. I've been very good this week, so it kind of proves that when I'm good the diet works and that all the stuff about having a slow metabolism/being genetically programmed to be fat/being conspired against by evil diet goblins is sort of an excuse ... but sticking to 1,000 calories a day long-term is not easy, especially when you have zero willpower! Anyway, that brings up the six stone mark. It's really rather scary to think that 2 years ago I had six stone (around the equivalent of 2 suitcases just under the airline weight limit) of extra fat attached to me. Sunday is Off Diet Day ... back to it tomorrow ...
So it would've been a good day had United not put up a dreadful performance against Reading and managed to drop 2 home points in the first match of the season. Not a good start.
Finished reading The Making of Manchester by Mike Fletcher, a rather basic local history book which I got because for some strange reason I hadn't got any local history books in the house. It was full of bizarre typos/spelling errors/very weird punctuation errors, as if someone'd read it all into one of those machines that're supposed to pick up what you say and then type it out but always get it wrong, but never mind! Not a bad read, although I was rather put out that it only included half a paragraph on the Cotton Famine.
Fingers crossed for good weather next week, at least until the new door is in the door frame rather than in the front room. I keep tripping over it!
