(no subject)
Yay! The shower is mended! I got a second phone call last night, from the engineer who presumably covers the area around Manchester (he had a Bolton accent, whereas the first guy I'd spoken to had a Southern accent), and he said that he had a call not far away this morning so would try to get to me today. He rang again at about half 10 this morning to say he'd be at mine for 11:15, so I went home, and he turned up at 11:17 (pretty good really!). Needless to say it turned out to be more of a business than he'd initially thought, and the parts they'd sent in the post were no use, but he did get it sorted so thankfully the water at home is now back on!
I really need to learn not to get in such a panic about things: I was warned about it several times in my old job (there's nothing to panic about in this one!). I'm always OK a few minutes later, but by then I've usually made a complete idiot of myself.
A strange black and white cat has taken a liking to my garden. I saw it hanging around at the weekend but it ran off when it saw me (I have that effect on most creatures, human or animal!), but when I got home yesterday it was asleep under a tree, and then when I went home to let the shower man in it was on top of the shed, and by the time I came back to work it was asleep on the lawn. It's not doing any harm, but it's a bit weird how it's just turned up.
Very nearly finished the drabble - should get it finished tonight unless anyone rings up unexpectedly.
