the dream home that never was (mine)....

the oddest thing happened at work today. someone had brought in the NY times and i was looking over it at lunch....and i stumbled across an article that profiled a young couple and their "weekend getaway" home. the home is actually the 2002 HGTV dream home, and they purchased it from the give-away winner.

let me tell you something... i was ENAMORED with that home back in '02. if one event, one emotion were to describe my sophmore year of high school, it would be longing to win that home every day. it's located on chesapeake bay in sherwood, maryland and sits on nine acres. here are a few pics:

at dusk...my absolute favorite.

oh my GOD. could you just imagine living on chesapeake bay? lounging on a huge deck on a mild spring evening and watching the sun go down? man, i tell you, i could feel that as i looked at the pictures of this home during that year. everything about that home was perfect. it was just so bright, so fresh, and so calm. when i found out about the giveaway i went online and submitted my entry, and then proceeded to print out everything about the home; i compiled all of the pictures, the layout, etc, and wrote all over it. my grandpa and uncle built my grandparents' home a decade prior, so i decided to print out a copy for my grandpa and asked if there was any way he'd be able to build this for my family if i didn't win. he was really nice about it and said he thought it'd be feasible, which kept my confidence high. i was somehow certain that my family would be able to afford a huge-ass home let alone any piece of land in south lyon that we might be able to build it on.

some guy in midland, texas won. he kept the suv that came with the home but sold the house almost immediately.

and now it's used as a weekend home. whose weekend home sits on 9 g.d acres?

(this is what happens when you live in a tiny home for a long time....you go nuts over this stuff).
