i'm totally going to screw up the cosmic universe or something by saying this, but i think Paris Hilton got screwed over.
My thoughts on the situation:
-paris got pulled over because she was drunk driving on an expired license and it was her third offence. yes... she should've been arrested for that. just because she's a celebrity doesn't mean she can override the law.
-paris hilton said the stupidest thing in court which pissed off the judge. something along the lines of "i didn't know my license was expired. my handler didn't tell me." this pissed him off royally, and due to his fury, he decided to publically humilate her by sending her to jail.
-her sentence was 45 days in jail... which is kind of overboard if you ask me. There are people who get seven different drunk driving offenses and they still don't get jail sentences. I know someone whose been caught drunk driving five times, twice without a license and she barely did any time in jail.
-because she IS a celebrity, they chose to put her under house arrest instead of going to jail because of her health and safety. because of her crime, this would've been a more appropriate punishment for her anyway.
-they are making her go back to jail... once again... to publically humiliate her.
I kinda feel sympathy for her. But... thats not to say that i dont consider drunk driving, especially on an expired license, serious... i'm just saying that while regular citizens get away with it... paris hilton didn't because she's a celebrity with a tarnished reputation... and that's not a reason for her to go to jail.
i blame the media for shoving this in my face, and making me even slightly concerned over this shit.
paris hilton,
drunk driving,
jail
