Book Friend got engaged to her boyfriend when they went with her family to DisneyWorld. He proposed at Cinderella's Castle.
I'm really happy for them... i really really am, but... i'm very, selfishly, unsettled.
what the hell does that mean? that means that, i'm jealous. I'm one of those weird people who actually pays attention to which of my friends has had a first boyfriend before i have. it's just this race i cant turn off in my brain. The people who have beat me to the finish line, has significantly risen lately. There are only so many people left in the race. I have a horrible feeling that i'm going to be the last person to cross the finish line.
Now, my friends are the type of people who weren't exactly the apple of every guy's eye in high school. There were a few of us, and that was fine. We kind of lived vicariously through them, and they were ok with that. It was fine. We mourned not having a boyfriend, so we spent a good portion of time swooning with the friends of ours who did.
Then as we left high school and entered into college (those of us who did enter college), met boys. And suddenly we were not boyfriend-challenged. most of us weren't anyway.
Well, Book Friend, in high school, was very boyfriend-challenged, like myself. I expected her and i to get boyfriends around the same time... granted, i didn't know exactly when that time would be, but thats what i thought. Well, she decided to become a party girl, and met boys, and was a little wild around them, but still, never had a boyfriend, and along comes her fiancee, and they've dated for roughly a year and a half... maybe two years. And now she's one of the first of us to be engaged.
Do you know what this says to me? Well, lets look at this as a running competition. I'm still at the beginning of the first lap, and she's at the beginning of her third lap. Most of my friends are in the middle or finishing their second lap. It's humiliating.
I feel like i'm a sick person. judging my friends and our love lives like this.
on a semi-related note, Mr. Produce Guy, either quit in pursuit of another girl who moved to Ohio, quit because he got another job, or was fired because he was really late to work several times and gave no explanations. Either way, let's say goodbye.
SO! on the meter of potential guys, we have:
Produce Guy but he has a girlfriend he loves.
Eye Candy Produce Guy (you've never met him but he's new, and he's hot), but he's Produce Guy's Best Friend, and he has a girlfriend he loves.
Orlando Bloom but he's playing hard to get.
And in a completely unrelated note: i cannot believe what happened on Lost. i'm just so shocked and disturbed that i dont really know if i liked the episode or not.
