Ok, this entry is going to be a little different than the others, because, every other entry is from my perspective. this one, will not...ish.
My day was pretty good, i thought yesterday was a great day in the general sense. but, alas, as we all know, i went to a wedding on saturday, and when it comes to weddings, that day belongs to only one person... the bride. The bride, of course, being Married Friend.
Now since i dont know Married Friend's perspective on life, i cant write this the way she would, but lets just make a list per say, of things that have happened to her on her wedding day. Towards the end, it'll be more in my perspective, but yeah.
This is just about as chronological as possible.
-Went to HyVee in the morning to pick up the flowers and the wedding cake.
- the flowers were supposed to be light blue and dark blue.
-they were white with dark blue roses.
- the cake was supposed to be light blue with dark blue shapes
-the cake was white with light blue and dark blue shapes.
-the cake was limp
-the cake didn't have the topper on it.
-Went to the church got all dressed.
-at 2pm, the wedding began.
-her slip was falling as she was walking down the aisle.
-they said their vows and exchanged rings.
-they kissed
-they walked down the aisle.
-they took pictures for hours.
-at 6pm the reception started.
-prior they welcomed everyone.
-the groom's step-aunt had trouble breathing
-this caused the whole table to panic and scream for a phone to call 911.
-the grooms step-mother was frantically bawling.
-the room fell silent except for everyone surrounding the table.
-hugged the appropriate family members.
-ambulance came and took her out on a stretcher.
-the reception continued.
-the best man (who is the groom's step brother) gave an excellent speech with the appropriate amount of humor and praising... and a little humiliation on the bride and groom, but still funny.
-the maid of honor (who is the bride's sister, and looks exactly like glasses friend), barely started her first sentence when she had to turn around because she was crying. it took her a minute or two to recover but she did, and gave a teary speech about how Married Friend was always their for her and that she's glad that Married Friend's husband was now apart of the family.
-everyone ate dinner.
-which included a ton of food. ham, roast beef, scalloped potatoes, pinapple casserole (??? i dont remember what it was called, but it was really good), green beans, salad, and a roll.
-then the flower bouquet toss occured
-(for the record, i didn't want to do it. i hate the flower bouquet toss.)
-(she knew this, and had the announcer call my name over the speaker.)
-as she was tossing it over her shoulder, the flower bouquet flew up, hit the huge light, and all the dark blue roses fell out all over the floor.
-they re-did the toss, but they didn't put the blue roses back in.
-(for the record, neither me, nor my guest Old Best Friend, try to catch it. we actually purposefully stood off to the side so we wouldn't be in the pathway of the bouquet. i told you, i hate the bouquet toss.)
-then the garter belt toss occured.
-the groom (and i quote) "really went for [the garter belt]"
-the best man caught it, and used it as a headband for awhile, and then used it as a scrunchy.
-then they cut the cake and took pictures.
-they were really nice, and didn't smash it into their faces.
-the father of the bride got discouraged, so he went up and got a finger full of frosting, and (as she squealed) dotted it on her nose.
-then the first dance occured.
-(i cant remember the song, but it wasn't anything i've heard before)
-then the father-daughter dance occured
-it was really nice because her father was really funny before he came up, and they told him to go put on his jacket again, and then to fold up his collar, and then some lady came up and looked behind his ears for dirt. it was funny.
-the song was "I Hope You Dance" by LeAnn Womack, and it was really sweet.
-i almost started to cry because i was thinking about my wedding day, and i didn't know if i'd have a father-daughter dance, or if i'd change it and make it a mother-daughter dance. so i got a little weepy eyed, but i didn't cry.
-then i saw Married Friend bury her face into her father's shoulder, and her father was rubbing her back to make her feel better, and then as they circled back around, her face (still buried) was beet red. it was really hard not to cry then. i wondered what they were talking about. did he say he was proud of her? did he say that he'd miss her? did he say that he felt like he was losing her?
-then she came over to our table and we all ate delicious (limp and wrongly decorated) cake.
-we talked for awhile, and it was nice. it seemed like, Old Best Friend, Anal Co-Worker and I were the only friends of her's that showed up. i hope i'm wrong about that.
-then the dollar dance occured.
-i had no cash, so i couldn't do it.
-Anal Co-Worker, and Old Best Friend did.
-by this time i was by myself at the table, so i needed to fiddle with something, and i checked my phone and i saw my mom had called me three times within five minutes... and they occured about 15 minutes from when i was checking my phone, so i went into the bathroom so i could call her back.
-she told me that there were storms brewing all around us, and that there was a good chance for tornados.
-she also told me the score so far for the USC vs. Nebraska game was at 7-3 (USC) and it was almost halftime. which to me sounded beautiful, even if it meant we were losing... because A. i knew we were going to lose. B. this means, we held them off pretty well, otherwise the score would be 60-3 (USC). So, despite the fact that we were down, we were still holding our own. C. we needed to look good in this game irregardless of who would win. and we were so far.
-Old Best Friend and I leave around 8:40pm because she needed to go visit her friend who was turning 21, and also because storms were brewing.
-we felt bad that we couldn't say goodbye because they were in the middle of the dollar dance. i still kind of feel bad about that.
-Tornado sirens went off around 9:10pm
-i had only been home for about 10 minute when they started to sound, and it made me feel even more bad about Married Friend's Wedding day! i felt soooo bad.
-according to various people i've talked to, 4 tornados touched ground that night. none near the reception hall, but one was like right ontop of my uncle. i haven't heard anything so far, so that must mean nothing has happened to him.
-people were pissed because KETV (which for you non-Omahan's is the local news on ABC) had to split the screen... half of it being the USC vs. Nebraska game, and the other half being the weather. what crappy timing weather! what crappy timing!
-i'm still typing in bullets for reasons i dont know... but i'm going to end this now. the point was... nothing was going right for married friend, and i felt bad. but she had a blast.
