So Ashlee and I had the requisite DMV adventure today. I looked up the address beforehand, put it in Carmen, and then we went there. Except it wasn't there. So we're on Main Street looking for 6205, and there's this huge soccer field in place of where 6205 is. So after driving past that spot twice, hoping we'd somehow spot it, we pull over and I start checking places of interest on Carmen. And she brings up: 6205 Main Street as the Erie Community College. While I'm doing this Ashlee asked her mom to google it for us, and she says it's b/w these two streets-Young and Tech, well the only thing b/w them is the campus.
So after about 10 minutes of driving literally around campus, we finally spot (the last building we hadn't looked at of course) the DMV, which for some reason was called the Auto Bureau. Anyway, lucky for us it turns out to be a small one so we didn't really have to wait in line long. However, we have to supply like 80 different things to prove that we are who we say we are. Like literally: I gave them my birth certificate, my license, and my social security card. They then wanted 2 more things. So I pull out my debit card: and they're happy with that. I pull at my college ID and they're not happy with that. But somehow, when I pulled out my Wegman's card: they're happy.
Does it seem awfully silly that 1) they don't truly believe I am who I say I am (even w/ a SS card, and a birth certificate, and a license) until they see my Wegman's card (which I got by showing my license for about 2 seconds) and 2) that somehow that Wegman's card (2 sec. of license glancing, no name, no picture) was somehow more believable than my college ID... (which has a picture and my birthdate and took a bit longer to get).
Yeah, I thought so too.
*grin* And now that I am slowly turning into a NY girl (officially anyway), I think I'm off to get some work done before Ashlee finishes dinner.
