Wow. I didn't know you worked as a psychologist. Yeah, I think people in those positions rarely get to do what they actually consider important, unless they direct the kids in the directions they need to go. But that is hard with the aforementioned parents who fucked up their kids in the first place and then when it's too late feel really insecure and defensive about it and try to blame it on everyone but themselves. Thankfully, those parents are not the majority, so there is some hope. I agree that testing is very important. It's an excellent way to see holes in development and ability and figure out what needs to be targeted. Little kids are great...but I have decided that I am no longer working with anyone who will pick their nose and wipe it on the closest entity, and I am loving high school. I have no problem being seen as the "system", whatever that even means. I have no doubt about the fact that I am doing something special and meaningful, and I believe that what I do and believe is important. That experience a few years ago
