Forgot to mention that my husband is attending an
ARMA event (Association for Renaissance Martial Arts) this weekend, a teaching clinic for renaissance fencing. It is in our town, and he said there were about 40 in attendance, very cool. There are also 2 more fencing clubs here now, one is a renaissance fencing club. I would have to ask my husband. He teaches classical olympic style fencing at the local university (foil, epee, sabre), like in the userpic today.
And, yes, he now has one of those cool wooden longswords.
The girls loved it. It is bigger than they are....
The new clubs, in addition to the one at the university are cool, because my husband is thinking of opening his own studio in the fall (hoping to, at least). There is a lot of interest in classes from all the homeschooling groups in the region. At least one of the other fencing groups would use the space with him and help with the rent. Now we just have to find a decent location that is big enough with a decent floor.....
(my daughter, 5 yr old Dancer Girl, wants to fence and is soo excited that her daddy will be teaching her that she tells everyone that he will be teaching her in the fall )
here are some pics I found of Dancer Girl fencing, I think she was about 6 months old...
