Wow, it's been a while since I've posted here. Been kinda busy, with one thing and another. So I thought I'd better update...
The main news is, I'm still here and I'm
still bumpy!!
Yup, am now 38+2 weeks pregnant and I've officially made it to full-term this time around! Woohoo! Now it's just a matter of wait and see as to when Boo2 will put in an appearance! Had a midwife appointment a week ago where she said baby had started to engage and she wouldn't be surprised if it came before due date.. but there's really no way to know. I have absolutely no signs of anything happening - not a single Braxton Hick (practice contraction) or anything - but then I never had any with AJ either!
Knowing the way my life goes, I will either go into labour/have this baby either on Christmas Day itself or early next week... when hubby HAS to be in London for work and mum needs to be in work in North Wales and I am home alone with AJ!!
So other than still being pregnant... what else has been going on with me? Well, basically, I've been ill. For a month. Yup. A month. Nothing pregnancy-related at all... baby was and is fine, it was just poor old flipping ME who felt awful! Started off feeling wobbly/dizzy back in November and was diagnosed by the dr with viral labyrinthitis - hubby had to work from home for a week cos I was was struggling to look after AJ (e.g. bending over her cot to pick her up made me nearly tip over sideways!) and we didn't feel it was safe for me to drive etc. That lasted for about a week or so and then I developed a really rotten cold... with accompanying cough... which lasted for about 2 weeks... and then the cough developed into awful awful awful sinus pressure, so bad it was preventing me from sleeping. Hubby had to work from home again (and try and look after both me and AJ!) and I went to the drs again and was diagnosed with sinus infection and given antibiotics to clear the infection and codeine for the pain (I am allergic to paracetamol and codeine is the only other painkiller they are happy to give during pregnancy) to try and allow me to get some sleep...
Started taking the tablets that afternoon... and woke up the next day soooooooooooooo ill! Couldn't lift my head off the pillow without the room spinning and couldn't sit upright withut throwing up! Have genuinely never felt so awful in my life! Ended up going into hospital to the antenatal day unit (and boy, was the process of getting up and dressed and into the car NOT fun!!) to get checked over and make sure my symptoms weren't pregnancy-related - they weren't and it was all put down to the sinus infection and possibly (probably, in my opinion) a bad reaction to the codeine! They decided however that I was dehydrated (well, gee, not been able to eat or drink all day or sit upright without vomiting - I wonder why I might be dehydrated?!) and so they kept me in overnight on IV fluids and anti-emetic injections!
The good news is that the anti-emetics helped and I was able to come home the next day and restart taking the antibiotics and they pretty much kicked in a day or two later and I finally started feeling a bit more human... and over the last week or so I have - for the first time in a month!!! - been feeling pretty much back to normal. Thank goodness! Cos the way I was feeling if I'd gone into labour while ill, they may as well have just wheeled me straight into theatre for a c-section cos no way I'd have had the energy to push a baby out!!
Mum came to stay last week, in case I was still needing help looking after AJ etc, and we managed to get a few more things sorted for xmas... bit of last-minute shopping for the baby and sorting stuff out around the house etc. Still have a couple more presents to buy (tried to do most of my present-shopping online this year as have been feeling so rotten I barely left the house for 2 weeks!!) and we need to do a proper food shop for xmas but will leave that nearer the time. Hubby finishes work at the end of next week and is off for two whole weeks over xmas (and will then work from home for 3 weeks after that).
Pleased to report that AJ is doing fab and has really put on a development spurt over the last few weeks! She is now commando crawling/crawling on elbows and knees and so can go wherever she wants and can go pretty fast when she wants to. She is getting pretty good at feeding herself with cutlery and she is babbling and talking more and more and coming out with lots of new words. She is so much fun right now. :)
I've gotten pretty much nothing done in terms of fandom. Haven't even lurked lately on GW etc and haven't read any fic and writing has simply not happened due to being so flipping ill! Had to pull out of the SGA Secret Santa but I tried to give as much notice as possible that I wasn't going to be able to complete so hopefully a pinch-hitter will have been able to write a stonking good alternative. My sincere apologies to my swappee for not being able to complete.
Not much else to report really. My life right now is pretty much just sitting around waiting for xmas/this baby to arrive - whichever happens first!
