In General, A Weekend That Has Come And Gone

Jul 18, 2005 02:24

The past few days have been a mish mosh of people and events:

Thursday: Jason, Lex, Tim Poff and I all piled into the Jeep to go swimming at North fork. The water was absolutely frigid, but in the 85+ degree heat it felt really wonderful to be outdoors for a change.

Friday: I finally got to test drive Lex's Volvo wagon and I must say, it fucking drives fantastically. It shifts really evenly and has a nice purr when it revs. Granted, it needs some work done on it, but when it's all fixed it will be the perfect touring car. (Lex, believe it or not you picked a winner... things will be better soon, sweetheart ;) ) I also drove to Portland with Lex, her fake cousin Kyle and one of his friends to see Kyle's gig which Lex and I never ended up attending. After waiting in standstill traffic for almost 2 hours on I-205, getting lost on I-84 West (Since Kyle, even though he fucking lives in Portland didn't even know where he was supposed to be playing with his band...what street, what side of the river, even what fucking district. Hell, if it wasn't for Lex, we wouldn't have even known how to get to Kyle's house even though Kyle was in the car... you'd think he'd know how to find his way home...) in 90 degree weather with a car that has faux air conditiong and a very sticky clutch to boot, I was getting a little tired of setbacks. So, after getting lost and being rushed to get there the whole time, Lex and I were pretty upset to find out that the show had moved to a different place and we would all have to pile into the Fox and go across the river to find the venue all over again. We both agreed "Fuck this jazzz" and ditched to pursue our own adventures. We walked around for a while and then went to Starbucks and got our usuals, followed by Buffalo Exchange and Spartacus. Lex bought two little pins, one for each of us....

We headed back to Salem at around 10pm and were in my apartment by 10:30. (Sometimes there are advantages to living way out in North Salem... though, they are few and far between...) Everyone was over and we had a pretty good party for the rest of the night.

Saturday: My mother managed to swing a temporary job for me working in Licensing at Agriculture helping her stuff envelopes, file paperwork and do other various clerical grunt tasks. I worked for about half the day with her and then we went to Dallas to see my Grandparents and crazy Aunt Marsha who's in town. The evening was going fine; we were browsing through old family photos, telling jokes back and forth, talking about my Grandparent's recent birthday bash at the beach... it wasn't until about the last five minutes when we were leaving that Marsha went ape-shit and insulted me for no damn reason. My mom wanted to deck her, but we left before anything really horrible could go down. Mad woman that she is, in less than a week of being in Oregon to see the family, Marsha has managed to pick a fight with everyone on an individual level.. even me. I've met the wench maybe twice in my whole life, so why she chose to rail on me I have no idea.

Today, Sunday: Jason, Lex and I went to the art fair for a little while and walked around looking at stuff. We didn't buy anything, but it was still cool... a troupe of bagpipers were piping through the crowd at one point in their spiffy kilts and various accouterments. It was terribly warm and muggy, so we left to take Lex downtown to work and get something to drink. Later on, Jace and I went to Sunday Dinner at Denny's and just had a nice evening afterward together.

And that's really where this weekend comes to a stop. Next weekend should be amusing with my family's impending reunion at Champoeg. Hopefully sociopathic Aunt Marsha will have skipped town by then. I don't know if my Mom and Aunt Debbie would be able to restrain themselves in a public setting if she is there... both of them have confessed to wanting to rip her head off and shit down the hole a few times.

Anyways, it's sleep time. Sigmund goes in to be fixed tomorrow.
No more shall I have to deal with a faulty clutch cable!
The beast shall be tamed!
