More stuff has been happening.

I am now officially a MedLink! Woo woo! Yay capability and informedness and responsibility and free jars of condoms!

Also, something interesting I ran across during training: these relaxation audios, put together by one of the MIT Medical staff. There are a few that I particularly like to listen to at night -- they put me right out, partly because of the exercise itself, and partly because it's very soporific to be listening to someone talk softly but not be paying too close attention to what they say. (OK, I paid attention the first time, but now I know what they say. I could do the exercise without the audio, but I like hearing someone.)

I spent a good portion of today being a subject in several different short studies in a psycholinguistics lab, which was interesting (and, incidentally, lucrative). And! One of the studies used a conlang (albeit a simplistic one designed solely for its role in the study and having absolutely no grammar)! I talked to the grad students about it afterward, and what with conversational drift and all we ended up talking about Ithkuil for a bit (when I wanted to show them a REAL engelang). They were really interested in the idea of conlangs, not dismissive at all, which I understand is rare for linguists. So yay. And I got some pointers to papers of research involving conlangs, which I will read up on and link to and discuss at some point.

And! I asked if anyone was looking for UROPs (undergrad research intern types) and the conlang-using grad student said he was, and we're going to meet up soon and discuss! Whee taking initiative and whee psycholinguistics and squee!
