Homeopathic medicine BLAAARRGAGG

May 22, 2007 13:25

We had a "Natural Living Fair" at school today. It's part of someone's senior project. Basically a bunch of people standing at tables handing out flyers about organic food, composting, less-toxic pesticides, the whole bit.

For the record, I have no objection to anything in the previous paragraph. Also, I have a particular dislike for the guy whose project it is, but I can honestly say that that didn't incite what I say in the next paragraph.

In addition to all that good stuff, there were people shilling for homeopathic medicine and some kind of crystal-power-healing bullcrap. Both of which are demonstrably ineffective, except for the placebo effect. In other words, lies. This made me really angry. I wanted to go up and engage them in debate, but I decided it would be (a) rude and (b) not worth it. Besides, I didn't want to bring guilt-by-association on the rest of the presentations.

But still: GRRRGGGH.
