I invented a drill last year when I was teaching Jessi to do side thrust kick. Basically you stand with your hands on the wall (standard practice for kick drills; you don't have to worry about balance) and then you push a chair along the wall with your foot as if you were kicking it. The idea is to teach the thrusting motion - most people have a problem where they get rotational motion instead of thrusting motion and end up doing a side roundhouse kick. Yeah, it's hard to describe.
I persuaded Chandler to let the whole club try it today and miracle of miracles it was a great success. Everyone got the thrusting motion down. Though I say it myself, it's a hell of a lot more effective than Chandler's "arrow from a bow" analogy.
So it has been officially added to the Karate Club canon. Oh yeah.
