A required lab class for the bioengineering major is overenrolled, and there is a lottery for it. It won't kill me, as far as graduating, to take this class next semester instead. I have emailed people about getting to the front of the line next semester if I withdraw from the lottery this semester.
[ETA: Received a clarifying email. I have basically zero chance in the lottery, because I'm not technically a course 20 major yet, because I dropped 20.110 last term. Understandably, preference is given to actual course 20 majors. Argh.)
In the meantime, I can also take the lab class from the biology department. But it also has a lottery, and I can't enter both lotteries. I'm told the odds for this class are better, but not sure how true this is (and have asked appropriate people).
If I get lotteried out of both, I'll take some other class. Either I'll take a math or CS class, or I'll see if I can get a head start on the junior/senior bioengineering electives (the interesting ones may be too advanced, even if I technically have the prerequisites). My choice will be limited by schedule conflicts with the other classes I'm taking this semester, as well.
The world has not ended. I can make this work.
