Okay so. I may be overstepping my boundaries here. However, there are a lot of things making me sad right now, and this is one i have the potential to do something about.

People are having a hard time. The economy sucks. Money is tight. I'm starting my first job in almost two years on Monday. But I've been lucky. My parents are financially stable

I want this idea to catch on like wild fire. I want this to spread through LJ and be something people just do, because there is nothing more hurtful and shameful than hunger in a country where there is plenty.

Please, please spread this around. Link to it if you want, make your own post if you can. My audience is very limited. It would be amazing if this caught on like all those silly memes and if everyone who could afford to do this even a little bit, even just one or two packages, put out the offer. I'm really not sure anyone will reply to this post to ask, because there's so much shame involved, and it's not really as though I can ever tell anyone if it was a success or not. But I've seen online communities make a difference time and time again. It just has to start somewhere.

I pimped this post out to my Twitter. I hope that's okay, and if not, I can remove it, but I would like to help in any way that I can because I have been there before. I am not there currently--I'm making ends meet, thankfully, but I have been there before. Being hungry is no joke. Not being able to afford meals and either waiting hopelessly for another paycheck to come in or for someone to have mercy on you is no walk in the park either.

And it is a hard, very hard thing to bring yourself down to a level to ask for help, but I want people to know it's okay to ask for help. It's a humbling experience, but humiliation is not a factor. Times are hard now, they may get even harder, but to ask for even this little bit isn't a horrible thing.

Eventually, when I have enough money myself, one day I hope to be able to make a post like this. Because I've been there before when I was the one posting and asking for help.
