heeeeeeeeey internets! so, yeah, i never update this thing. HOWEVER. there is news. sorta. news with pictures, and you know you love pictures!

last night i went to see jack's mannequin playing at state theatre in st pete. for ye who are not in the know, jack's mannequin is the side project of andrew mcmahon, the lead singer of something corporate. for ye further not in the know, last year andrew was diagnosed and treated for lukemia. so when i heard he was up and touring again, i was nothing short of, um, squeeingly mindbogglingly estatic, and i grabbed me a ticket to the st pete show faster than you can say boo.

now, i hurt like hell today because i spent two and a half hours of my life yesterday absolutely CRUSHED in a sea of screaming teenage girls and their protective beefy boyfriends. i nearly got knocked over and stampeded at one point, and bailed out of the mosh. but in return for my pain, i actually got close enough to the stage that andrew squeezed my fingers. me and like twenty other people, but shh. this made the fact that i was absolutely soaked (literally, after 45 minutes out of the mosh and the hour drive home in my nicely air conditioned car all my clothes were still sopping wet) with the sweat of myself and countless others.

also, as i promised before, there are pictures. andrew looks beautiful and healthy, and sounds beautiful and healthy. their set was half an hour of fucking unmitigated awesome. and andrew squeezed my fingers, did i mention that? i'm such a sad fangirl.

hee, this one is just for the sake of tummy.

oh yeah, and josh was there too. except you can barely see him in this pic, because this is after i got out of the screaming terrifying moshpit thing. but they're singing greatful dead's friend of the devil.

i also feel obligated to mention the other two bands, since they were half the concert time. monty are i was actually pretty cool. loud, but cool. and they had a song about zelda, which gives them +10 to awesomeness. they also had a trumpet and a trombone, which moves them up in my estimation greatly. and were such a bunch of spazzy dorky boys having a fucking blast on stage. overall, cool. i think i'd like their music pretty well if there were about 200 less decibels going on, but that isn't their fault. cute (is what we go for), on the other hand...meh. no energy, and kinda poppy formulaic things. that said, i might like their album, but after monty, they had no energy and the lead singer was very very obviously exhausted. i kinda forgive them because they were apparently shooting a music video since 6am (their set started at 9pm, incidentally), but meh. no energy, no spark, and besides, we all wanted to see jm at that point. poor guys got heckled a bit. i think both are going to be on warped tour, so i recommend checking out monty.

did i mention that andrew looks SO HEALTHY and sounded SO FABULOUS? because, yeah. not tired or worn or anything. we all got some love, man. we all got some love.
