Cordelia's going to be very impressed, I can tell!

I can't drink the alcohol, but the pickled beets sound yummy. Thumbs up!

I cheated and tried an onion and a beet yesterday when I pulled them out to take a picture. They were nice and pickly and sour-sweet. Next time I do it though I'm going to slip some fresh rosemary in the jar with them since I've got a patch growing in my herb garden.

I'm hoping the cordials turn out ok. I'm experimenting with adding spices to them, I found the recipes online, but I've never tried any that use spices before, so it's definately an experiment.

I'm sure you'll be able to find SOMEONE who likes your cordials, Alinore! Even if they don't turn out exactly as you expect them to.

At the very least I don't think I'll have much of a problem getting rid of them. :P

[Why the llamas???]

Which reminds me, when I was cleaning up the other day, one of my bottles of mead (made in 1994) threw it's cork at me. I saved most of it, plugged it securely, and asked Cordelia to taste it. She thought it was just fine, not terribly alcoholic, but decent. I forgot to send it with her when she left on Sunday.

(Since I can't drink alcohol for medical reasons, I can't taste it myself.)

Bummer that you can't drink it. There is a gentleman in Calontir who makes the most lovely mead that I've ever tasted. It's delightful, possibly my favorite alcoholic drink ever.

Is that Conn? He used to do fabulous wines and brewing. Sigh.

The gentleman I was referring to is named Ansgar and he is from Herald's Hill in Calontir. His group is the group that co-hosts Ages of War with Silfren Mere every spring.

I'll have to keep it on my calendar -- Gwyneth and Daffyd have both recommended the Ages of War event.

We'd love to see you there! It is Herald's Hill's turn to host it, but we'll be helping out there. Last year was very fun. Damiano is the co-autocrat, the event is his baby.

Yes -- I remembered how much I enjoyed Northshield and Calontir...

And hopefully at this event we'll be lacking in wind and rain. :)

That would be nice!

I have been to Boar's Heads when there were blizzards immediately after, but as they were nice and inside, it didn't matter much!

Boar's Head is one of the events that I'm planning on this winter. Looking forward to an indoor events for awhile after the excitement of Cecil's.
