Cages

I've been looking at picking up a cage again in the hopes that it will help me actually get started riding my bicycle again this year (there is a justification for this - I mountain bike... getting a mountain bike to the mountain from the middle of a fairly flat city requires transport... motorcycles don't transport bicycles well. There are other reasons too, but that's the one I'm starting with.

I'm looking at inexpensive compacts (well, fairly inexpensive by US terms at least)... Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris, Mazda 2. I didn't get the chance to set in the Mazda today, but I did sit in the others. The Yaris and the Fiesta seem to have about the same amount of space in the back, but the front seats are vastly different. The Yaris was as far back as it would go and I couldn't stretch my legs at all. I could fit, but it definitely felt a bit tight. It drove well on the freeway at 70mph - plenty stable despite being as small as it was. The Fiesta fit me beautifully. A couple notches to go on the seat slider, a bit lower of a seat (which is more comfortable for me). The back seat and trunk space looks pretty damn usable. The Mazda was a bad decision, IMHO. Small, worse fuel economy, and a higher sticker price.

The Yaris wasn't bad, but it's more expensive and doesn't fit me as well. The Ford is a bit better in cost and fits me way more comfortably... I'll have to actually drive the Ford to get a proper feel. Thinking... we'll see.
