Because it's too good not to share with my Livejournal friends who are not on my Facebook, I present to you this year's Halloween photo from JCPenney Portrait Studio. This was actually the only photo of Amelia and Erika that we obtained, before Amelia just flat out refused to be in the studio any longer. Amelia is the third child to wear this kitty cat outfit (she refused to wear the ears, both for this portrait studio and also on Halloween itself), so it's a great long-sleeve hand-me-down with a black tail that, when she first wore it, she spun herself around and around, chasing her tail. Erika picked a Princess Anna from Frozen costume from her dress-up collection.
I bought a 8x10 photo of this and framed it in a giant 11x14 frame, and hung it in our entryway foyer. It captured something so real that resonated with me; the apologetic look of resignation on Erika's face, the anguished look on Amelia's (down to the eyes shut tight, mouth in an open scream, and arm reaching out in desperation). I think it's a great contrast to all the perfectly happy, posed, shots that are proudly hung in homes.
