February 19: What are your Chinese horoscope animals? Do you think those animals match your personality, as well as Brian's, Erika's and Amelia's? (koyaaniisqatsi)

I'm an Earth Sheep.
"Stable with feet firmly planted in the ground, Earth Sheep are conservative, independent and practical, but not very confident in themselves. Most important in life is the family and they truly enjoy all that life has to offer. The Sheep symbolizes such character traits as creativity, intelligence, dependability, and calmness. Comfortable being alone to ponder the workings of their inner minds, Sheep enjoy being part of a group, but prefer the sidelines rather than the center. Their nurturing personality makes Sheep excellent care-givers. They’re quite and reserved because they spend much time absorbed in their thoughts. Home and alone is where Sheep feel most comfortable. There they can express themselves artistically, whether it’s by painting, cooking or participating in whatever artistic endeavors they enjoy. Sheep prefer the couch because there they can relax and explore their minds. They don’t need elaborate furnishings; only items reflecting their desire for art. When traveling or seeking entertainment, Sheep prefer groups or venues that hold many people. Sheep spend money on fashions that give them a first class appearance. Although Sheep enjoy spending money on the finer things in life, they are not snobbish." From http://www.chinesezodiac.com/

I agree that I am not very confident in myself: I am often surprised when people compliment me on my looks, my intelligence, or my work. I do think my family is the most important thing in my life and I strive hard to nurture and care for them.  I do love being home but I love to travel. The part that doesn't match is that I am not creative at all, and I am not calm! I spent very little money on fashion or having a first-class appearance (hahaha! I wear jeans to work!)

Brian is a Water Rat.
"Water Rats are extremely influential. They’re smart and insightful which makes them excellent at problem-solving. Practical and understanding, Water Rats interact well with and are liked by others. The Rat symbolizes such character traits as wit, imagination and curiosity. Rats have keen observation skills and with those skills they’re able to deduce much about other people and other situations. Overall, Rats are full of energy, talkative and charming but they have a tendency to become aggressive.Rats are full of good advice but they will never share their troubles with others. They are honest individuals and they enjoy living for the moment. They’re also capable of surviving any situation." From http://www.chinesezodiac.com/

Brian is the best problem-solver I've ever met, and probably why I fell in love with him. He's the type of person who can see things from many different angles and doesn't give up easily, so he is willing to try new things, tinker with broken items, and work hard to fix things. I really admire that in him. I think Brian fits his horoscope very well; he is a quick thinker, a charmer/flirt, and the type of person who always perseveres.

Erika is a Metal Tiger.
"Assertive, competitive and sharp, once Metal Tigers set their sights on their goals there’s no stopping them. They’ll always do what’s necessary to remain at the center of attention. Metal Tigers tend to jump to conclusions; a behavior they need to work at improving. The Tiger symbolizes such character traits as bravery, competitiveness and unpredictability. Tigers love to be challenged and will accept any challenge if it means protecting a loved one or protecting their honor. They don’t worry about the outcome because they know they’ll always land on their feet. Don’t let their calm appearance fool you though; Tigers will pounce when they feel it’s necessary.Born to lead, Tigers can be stubborn if they realize they’re not in charge. They have a slight tendency to be selfish but overall, Tigers are extremely generous. They’re very intelligent and they’re always on alert. Tigers are very charming and are well-liked by others. They are not motivated by money or power." From http://www.chinesezodiac.com/

This is SO unbelievably Erika. She is everything in this description. She is goal-oriented, extremely intelligent, jumps to conclusions, and loves challenges. Don't tell her she can't do something, because she will attempt it! She is opiniated, stubborn, and fiercely protective of her sister and family. The part that is not accurate is being compettive and assertive; Erika has a tendency to be very empathetic and soft-hearted, so she prefers cooperative games like building Legos together or playing dress-up rather than competitive ones like Jenga or two-player games, she prefers working together as a team rather than a race.

Amelia is a Wood Horse.
"Stable and strong, Wood Horses are better able to make decisions. They interact well with others; a trait that enables them to have more successful personal and professional relationships. The Horse symbolizes such character traits as strength, energy, and an outgoing nature. Extremely animated, Horses thrive when they’re the center of attention. Always in search of a good time, Horses keep the crowds happy with their humor and their wit. Horses are extremely intelligent so they’re able to grasp new subjects with ease. They’re also capable of multi-tasking however they don’t always finish what they start because they’re forever chasing the next opportunity. Horses are honest, friendly and open-minded. They’re perhaps a bit too centered on themselves and have been known to throw tantrums when situations don’t go their way." From http://www.chinesezodiac.com/

It's hard to tell with Amelia since she's still an infant, but some personality traits that we notice are different between her and Erika (at the same age) are that Amelia is much more easy-going and laid back. She isn't prone to tempers or outbursts, she doesn't get frustrated with herself as easily, and she is much more patient. She accepts her Fate more readily (she accepts that there are things she cannot change). I wonder what her personality will be like as she grows; I can't wait to find out!
