Poll
I personally thank them verbally when I receive a Christmas gift, and then mail a handwritten thank you card to their homes, so that I can thank their parents too.
But with thank you gifts, I'm not so sure? For example, I received a gift yesterday thanking me for being a wonderful coach and allowing him to grow as an individual and foster his love for the ocean sciences. I thanked him when he gave me the gift, but then do I still thank you for a thank you gift? Does that seem cyclically awkward?? (Thank you! -No, thank you. Thank you for the thank you. -Thank you for the thank you to the thank you...)
