Bed lowered!

Followed geminigirl and _evalution's suggestion of lowering the bed. We removed the supporting beams underneath and dropped the boxspring to the ground. So our raised bed, which used to be 3 feet high (about thigh-high on me) is now 2 feet high (knee-high). Erika's about 30-inches tall, so we spent a day teaching her how to slide off the bed, feet first, and dangle till she can drop safely to the ground.

When she reaches the ground, she claps enthusiastically for herself. Thanks for the advice, guys!

Baby-proofing question: how do you babyproof the dog's water dish?

We have two water bowls-- one in the living room and another in our bedroom (where Erika sleeps too). I know children can drown in less than two inches of water, and now that I've told her "ERIKA, NO!" several times, she gives me a big mischevious grin and crawls/walks over to the dishes and happily dips her hands in it or tries to tip it over.

Raise it off the ground? (Wouldn't she just grab at it anyhow?) Put a fence around it? (How does dog get to water?) Only offer water to dog at specific times? (Seems a little cruel.) Or face the reality that I can only childproof certain parts of my home, and if Erika is in the non-secured places, that I have to be with her? (i.e. remove the water dish from the bedroom to make the room safe, and watch her like a hawk in the living room?)

I can't think this one through.
